I've got dem' Palestinian blues,again

Michael Hall

Its been 62 years since I've seen home

I've got my house key, i have the right to return, but they won't let me go

I've been screwed, I've been jewed

I've got dem' Palestinian blues

My family has lived here when the sand was green

Never had a problem with no one even when they came to invade

We still tended the olive groves and as the centuries came and gone

We always smiled and did what we had to do to get along

But the when the British came all hell broke loose

They promised what was not theirs to give by Balfour to somebody else

And these 'chosen' believe that everything they see is theirs and theirs alone

Even though others have lived there for millennium and got there first and never left

After the war it was far more worse

Terror came at the end of an Irgun and Stern gun and these they made Prime Ministers

War and independence for the jew declared while ethnic cleansing swept the land of everyone else

We locked our doors, took our keys and ran till things were calm again

But we got jewed

We couldn't go home, we were locked away

We had papers and keys but it didn't mean a thing

Now I've got the Palestinian blues

Where are my Arab brothers who in front of the media say they will help

But when the camera's are off they are selling oil to Israeli's and kissing up to the Americans

F-16's and tanks attack our kids and schools

What does the world do but scream its betrayal of complicit silence the fools

Lord i got them blues

I got dem' Palestinian blues

I got jewed again just the other day

By the Saudi Arabians who turn the other keffiyeh

Now here I live locked in a filthy cage

The turn-keys are my enemy who put me on a starvation diet while they laugh at me

Boats come to aid, but Jewish pirates attack them, rob them and kill some as a lesson to everyone else

America lets its little friend commit any crime it wants and blocks any and all repercussions

The two greatest purveyors of violence and terrorism in the world today are exceptional and above the law

They stole most of my land, drained my water, furrowed my fields and demolished my home

My 11 year old son threw a rock at their tank yesterday and now he's tortured in jail for months

Now i understand that they don't want peace, never did

They want me gone so that they can have it all

I've got dem' ol' Palestinian blues

I've been jewed and jewed again and again

I just want whats mine and they can have the rest

But why must they want it all?

But someday, one day

We will break out free and swim in the sea

Somehow Someway

We will tear down these apatheid walls you will see

One morning this land will shared fairly by one and all

It will be democratic and secular in complete egalitarianism

But until that day i sing the blues

I live the Palestinian blues
