Massive Tel Aviv Child Prostitution Ring Busted

The Tel Aviv Police have broken up a child prostitution ring that exploited 14-year-old to 16-year-old girls and that had apparently been operating for years. "This isn't a case involving one or two girls – there are dozens of them. It's unbelievable."
The Tel Aviv Police have broken up a child prostitution ring that exploited 14-year-old to 16-year-old girls and that had apparently been operating for years, Ynet reported.

"This isn't a case involving one or two girls – there are dozens of them. It's unbelievable," a police source reportedly said.

Police raided the homes of 10 of the ring’s regular customers who all knew that the girls were underage.

Police reportedly intend to ask prosecutors to charge the men with statutory rape.

The case was placed under a judicial gag order. That order was lifted Monday after police arrested a woman who recruited girls into the ring. The 20-year-old would hunt for potential recruits, lure them into the ring, and teach them what to do.

Police have been able to track down dozens of girls employed by the ring.

A police source reportedly said that the girls said that they knew what they were doing, and said that they had consented to provide sexual services for money. However, none of the girls seemed to understand the criminal implication of doing so.

Social Service told Ynet that it will pair each girl with a social worker, to help their rehabilitation.

The ring had a very loyal cliental ranging in age from age from 20-years-old to 60-years-old. Police believe they have all their names.

The 10 male suspects who were arrested will be arraigned later today.

Published reports are unclear about who actually ran the ring and whether that person or persons have been arrested.

The former Foreign Minister of the Zionist State 
of Israel has admitted that she murdered scholars
 in Europe and was protected by MOSSAD for whom 
she worked. She also admits to having been a 
prostitute targeting persons in order  to record the
 sex and use for bribery, manipulation or to 
obtain secrets and cooperation.

Tzipi Livni, former Israeli foreign minister, 
revealed that she practiced sex with several
 Arab personalities while working as an
 agent of Mossad, “in order to engage in sex 
scandals, to reveal and extract secret information 
and political concessions in favor of Israel.”

She even confessed to having committed 
murder in European countries, whose 
victims were Arab scholars, adding that
 the Israeli secret service agency 
Mossad intervened and saved the day.

In a recent meeting with the British newspaper
 “The Times”, supported by Israeli and Arab 
press, Livni said she sees “no disadvantage”
 in using sex and murder for the sake of Israel “.
 She said she was “proud” of what she did, 
indicating that she would again resort to the
 same practices for Israel.

Confessions of Tzipi Livni came in the aftermath 
of a notice issued by the Chacham Israeli 
Ari Shaphat, which authorized Israelis “to use
 sexual practices with enemies in exchange
 for important information”, claiming that 
“Jewish religion tolerates this.”

Tzipi Livni has held several positions within the 
Zionist entity. She was at the forefront 
of the Likud party, and then she left to join 
Ariel Sharon who then created the Kadima party.
 She served as foreign minister under Olmert, 
and was associated with the decisions of the
 war against Lebanon in 2006 and Gaza in 2008.

After the fall of Olmert, Kadima has chaired 
the parliamentary elections of 2009 against 
the Likud, but failed to form a government that 
came to be led by Netanyahu. She was
 previously at the level of a Mossad officer, 
who raked European capitals in search 
of Palestinian or Arab prey.

Tzipi Livni could soon return to the head of 
a new party to participate in Israeli 
elections. It could successfully lead the next
 Israeli government, and will 
certainly continue its expansionist policies
 and war it has conducted during his 
previous tenure.

Livni is jubilant about her “heroic deeds, 
through the execution of special operations”,
 she shamelessly admits to “sexual practices
 and murder, if it provides information to 
Israel.” None of the European countries where
 the murders took place have asked for
 her arrest or for any further information or 
investigation.

This in turn reveals the control the Zionist 
Entity has upon European governments and 
authorities. 
Most private security companies handling
 European airport security are Israeli, as are various
 training conducted of police forces against “terrorism”.
 This in turn allows MOSSAD to
 execute false flag operations with ease.
Those so-called “Arabs personalities" 
would have to be pretty drugged up or passed out drunk to bed that ugly wench. If they woke the next morning with their arm around her, they would have chewed their arm off rather than wake her up. Therefore, any one-armed Arabs walking around today should be considered possible suspects.

An Israeli rabbi has given his blessing to female agents of Israel’s foreign secret service, Mossad, who may be required to have sex with the enemy in so-called “honey-pot” missions against terrorists.
Rabbi Ari Shvat’s ruling appeared in a study, “Illicit sex for the sake of national security,” published by the Tzomet Institute, which studies the interface between religion and modernity.

But Schvat wrote that honey-pot missions are not just a thing of modern-day espionage — such as the late 1980s capture of Mordechai Vanunu, the Israeli nuclear technician who revealed details of Israel’s nuclear program, or the January 2010 assassination of terrorist Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai. Both cases reportedly involved a Mossad female lure.
In fact, honey-pot missions are rooted in Biblical lore.
Queen Esther, who was Jewish, slept with the Persian king Xerxes around 500 BC to save her people, Schvat noted. Yael, wife of Hever, slept with the enemy chief of staff Sisra to tire him and cut off his head, according to tradition.
There is a catch, however, for married honey-pots. “If it is necessary to use a married woman, it would be best [for] her husband to divorce her. … After the [sex] act, he would be entitled to bring her back,” Schvat wrote.
“Naturally, a job of that sort could be given to a woman who in any event is licentious in her ways.”
Male agents in Mossad apparently have no limitations on sleeping with the female enemy, as they were not mentioned in the writings.
Schvat’s study was praised by Tzomet’s director, Rabbi Yisrael Rosen, who added that “women employees of the Mossad are probably not going to come consult with a rabbi” before their missions.

30% of sex crimes in Israel target minors

The Knesset’s Committee on the Status of Women is set to debate a new report on how the school system deals with sexual violence, Ynet learned Monday.

The report states that 30% out of the crisis centers’ 40,000 reports of sexual assaults in 2011 involved children under the age of 12. Almost half of the reports were of rape or attempted rape, some 25% were reports of incest and 20% were of sexual harassment.

The report also includes police statistics about sexual violence: In 2011, 4,563 sexual assault complaints were filed, 47% of them by minors.

In 20% of the cases, the suspect was a minor. In 18% of the cases, the assaults allegedly took place on school grounds.
“It splits your life to the ‘before’ and ‘after,’” Anat Eldar, a rape survivor who now works as an educator, said.
The school system, she added, plays a crucial rule in detecting such cases by giving victims the necessary assistance and breaking through the wall of silence.

Michal Rozin, executive director of the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel, said that the report was “proof that despite the growing number of complaints and the scope of the crisis centers’ activities, not enough resources are allocated to preventing such crimes and to assist in the rehabilitation of the victims.

“In light of these disconcerting figures, we urged authorities to recognize sex crimes as acute national problem that must be fought.”

Sex Slavery - The Growing Trade in Israel

10,000 Eastern European and Russian girls are lured to Israel each year and enslaved as prostitutes. They are forced to work in peep shows, pornographic films, in apartments, in bars, as streetwalkers, and in the more than 280 brothels in Tel Aviv. In a deceptive and vile fashion, the Jewish slave racketeers lure poverty-stricken girls from Russia, Ukraine, and other eastern European nations with false promises of well-paid jobs as teachers and secretaries. Many of these women are mothers or daughters who see these phony job listings as wonderful opportunities to improve their family's economic situation.
Once the women arrive in Israel, their passports and visas are destroyed and a process of rape, beatings, torture, and intimidation soon follows. Ultimately they are forced to choose between life as a sex slave or a painfull death.
Customers demands for slave trade workers who do not have HIV or AIDS requires thousands of new victims each year. They trustingly come to Israel for honest work and are usually never heard from again. A very small percentage has escaped either by their own courageous efforts or due to a raid by Israeli immigration authorities.
There are certain places where auctions take place. The Israeli police well know the names. They are nightclubs or regular bars. The women are forced to disrobe and are sold as slaves to Tel Aviv traders for $500 to $10,000 dollars. They are imprisoned and totally isolated by their owners, beaten, and forced to work 18 hours a day servicing up to 25 men a day.
Smuggling, fraudulent documents, and the collaboration between police and brothel owners is commonplace. An Amnesty International investigation of the theft of Russian women suggests that police and government officials have largely ignored the abuse in the billion dollar a year Israeli slave trade. The police say they are powerless to stop the flow of trafficked women until the laws are changed. Israel does not have a specific law against the sale of human beings. There are no laws related to bringing women from other countries into Israel for the purpose of prostitution and there are no laws against prostitution itself. The trafficked women are afraid to go to the police and complain, as many police are actually customers.
For those few women who dare to press charges against the traffickers and pimps, delays in trial dates and prolonged hearings force them to remain exposed to violence for more than a year until they are called in to provide testimony. In the event that a pimp or trafficker is brought to trial they are rarely if ever convicted.
At the U.S. department of State web site, the ‘Trafficking in Persons Report’, exposes the purposefully ineffective and halfhearted efforts by the Israeli government to stem the flow of slaves into their territory. According to the State department , "The (Israily) government reported no convictions for involuntary servitude this year."
Jewish slave racketeers working in collusion with Jewish organized crime gangs in Europe, funnel the girls into Israel's slave trade in a variety of atrocious ways. Acting in accordance with their Talmudic law of treating Gentiles like cattle, the Israeli dealers savagely compel the "cargo" to trek across many miles of unforgiving Egyptian desert at all times of the day and night and in any type of weather. Women who complain during the forced march are drugged, and those who break down and collapses are abandoned in the desert like dying freight animals.
The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the tribe who engages in this trafficking of women is the same tribe who owns and manages nearly all of the mass media in America and Europe. The profound lack of knowledge about the plight of these women would most likely not be the same if the victims were Jewish and the traders were Gentiles. By keeping this issue largely hidden from public view the media aids the traffickers.

Israel's sex Trade Is Booming & It's Living hell For The Victims & The Rest of The World

Human trafficking in Israel rakes in very easy more than USD billion a year.Thousands of women are being smuggled into Israel, creating a booming sex trade industry that rakes more than USD one billion a year, a parliamentary committee said on Wednesday. This has always been a problem in Israel and has had many groups along with groups around the globe pointing fingers and all eyes on Israel (who is seen as a leader in the industry) to do something about this growing problem. The pressure was so bad that The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee, headed by Knesset member Zehava Galon of the left-wing Yahad party, commissioned a report in an effort to show that Israel is prepared to combat the sex trade in Israel. Conservative findings showed that some 3,000 and 5,000 women are smuggled to Israel annually and sold into the prostitution industry, where they are constantly subjected to violence and abuse.

Their report, issued annually, said some 10,000 such women currently reside in about 300 to 400 brothels throughout the state. They are traded for about USD 8,000 – USD 10,000, the committee said.

Israel under pressure passed a law in 2003 that would allow the state to confiscate the profits of traffickers, but watchdog groups say like every other law that has something to do with non-Jewish is rarely enforced.

Most foreign prostitutes in Israel come from Ukraine, Moldova, Uzbekistan and Russia and many are smuggled in across the Egyptian border.

The committee found that the women work seven days a week for up to 18 hours every day and that out of the NIS 120 paid by customers, they are left with just NIS 20, while the rest of the money is passed on to their traders.

The prostitutes face constant threats of abuse and murder, the report said, and Israeli law does little to help them. Delays in trial dates and prolonged hearings force the women to remain exposed to violence for more than a year until they are called in to provide testimony, and courts rarely collect early testimonies, as permitted by law.

To help combat the problem, Officials should refrain from making plea bargains with sex traders and severe punishment for officials in the state and police officers that are making lots of money from turning a blind eye.I would also advise they should also raise the threshold of punitive measures also allow for financial compensation for sex trade victims.

Lets look at who these women are and the living hell they go through. Several dozen women have successfully escaped the grip of pimps that have turned their lives into a living hell. These women live in a secret shelter in Tel Aviv until they testify against their former pimps, then they are deported to their countries of origin.

Thursday, some of them went public as part of a new exhibition in Tel Aviv’s Central Bus Station, sharing the harsh details of their experiences.

The exhibit, called “Over the Road”, focuses on the public’s approach to women as chattel. It is intended to be a harsh protest against the underground brothels that continue to flourish despite legislation banning them.

Thousands sold each year

The women say the exhibit is primarily intended to reach the customers of their former bosses - the individuals who keep the business rolling along.

Worldwide, hundreds of thousands of women, men and children are sold each year. In Israel, a  very conservative number puts 1,000-3,000 women being sold annually, all for the sex industry.

Volunteers from the Center to Help Foreign Workers and the Clinic for the Fight Against Women Trafficking at Hebrew University have collected many testimonies of victims of women trafficking and documented the way in which they were brought to Israel.

K., from Russia, worked on Erlinger Street in Tel Aviv. She says her boss would “fine” his workers “for everything—if I asked to have
a shower between customers, if I went out without permission. At first we had enough food, but after a while it they said it was too expensive. We barely had enough soap—and during the dirtiest time of my life.”


N. says her pimp used the women for bartering. “If he wanted vegetables from the supermarket, he would ‘give’ one of the girls to a worker in exchange for the vegetables. He bartered us for food, jewelry and other things.”


Y., from Moldava, says she was forced into sado-masochism. “Customers would beat us. They had special instruments. They would drip hot wax all over my body and force me to do painful, degrading things. Of course they enjoyed it—they paid extra for it.”

One woman, also from Moldava, said she received no wages for her services. “(My boss) told me he bought me for 50,000 shekels, and that I had to ‘return’ the money (by working for free) before I could start to earn wages. They also made me pay 50 shekels a day for food and condoms”

Locked Door

N., from Ukraine, worked on Peretz Street in Tel Aviv, explains why women don’t run away. “We all dreamt of escaping, but they even managed to steal the dream from us after someone did leave. A week after she disappeared, her family's home in Moldava was firebombed.”

She says they were given one rest day per month: the first day of their period. “The first day we could take off. The rest of the time I was having my period, I had to use a diaphragm to prevent bleeding. But I had to continue taking customers.”

Nowhere to run

“We had nowhere to run,” says H. from Ukraine. “The door was always locked, bars on the windows, and there was a closed-circuit TV in each room.

“And even if you managed to get out—where would you go? What would you do? Several customers were police officers, and other cops would check our visas and leave. So who would we have turned to for help?

Eliot Spitzer Resigns as N.Y. Governor after being involved in Israeli prostitution service

New York Gov. Eliot L. Spitzer announced his resignation
today, bowing to mounting pressure to step down after
he was identified as client #9 of a high-priced prostitution
service under a federal investigation that showed the people
running the service had Israeli passports.

Spitzer, 48, a married father of three teenage daughters,
emerged from two days of talks with his family and close
associates to declare publicly that he is quitting as
governor effective Monday.

He apologized to New Yorkers, saying,
"I am deeply sorry that I did not live up to what
was expected of me."
He did not, however, refer specifically to the
allegations against him.

"There is much more to be done, and I cannotallow my private
failings to disrupt the people's work," Spitzer
said. "For this reason, I am resigning from the office
of governor." He did not take questions from reporters
after reading his statement.

The scandal, which broke Monday with the announcement of
federal charges against four alleged ringleaders of the prostitution
service, disgraced Spitzer and undermined his standing as a stickler
for law, order and public ethics.

A federal magistrate in New York ordered Mark
"Michael" Brener held without bail after his arrest last
Thursday related to allegations that he headed the
Emperors VIP Club, described by police as a
high-priced prostitution ring no doubts with more involved from Israel
if they really invistigated the matter.

$600,000 in cash and Israeli passports were
elements in the denial of bail to Brener.

The New York Times has reported that Spitzer is the
"Client 9" described in the search warrant that led
to the arrests of Brener and four alleged colleagues.

Spitzer, a Jewish lawyer whose office conducted
serious investigations of at least two Jewish
organizations when he was state attorney general,
made a brief statement to the media Monday
admitting he had let down his family and the public.
He did not offer any details.

The feds busted a diamond-studded international call-girl ring
that offered well-heeled johns "fashion models, pageant
winners and exquisite students" for up to $5,500 an hour -
after one of the prostitutes turned on her pimp, authorities said.

The johns paid as much as $50,000 for a weekend with a
prostitute and had the option of purchasing a "buy out"
of their favorite girls, which allowed them to book trysts
directly with the hookers, Manhattan federal prosecutors said.

The Emperors Club, an upscale escort service, ranked its hookers
on a seven-diamond scale on its Web site and then charged its
wealthy clientele accordingly for "dates," court papers said.

Four people were charged with prostitution and
tax crimes for allegedly raking in more than $1 million
with a stable of 50 girls that serviced clients in
New York, Washington, LA, San Francisco, Chicago,
Miami, Las Vegas, London, Paris and Vienna.

Mark Brener, the 62-year-old alleged ring leader from
Monmouth Junction, NJ, along with his girlfriend and
alleged top madam, 23-year-old Cecil "Katie" Suwal, ,
from Cliffside Park, NJ, both face up to five years in prison
on prostitution charges and 20 years behind bars
for money laundering.

Authorities raided Brener's home early and
found $600,000 in cash and 19,000 in Euros
in various safes, prosecutors said.

Brener, they said, had two Israeli passports in addition
to his US passport.

Two other women, Tanya Hollander, 36, a nutritionist from
upstate Rhineback, and Temeka Rachelle Lewis, 32, of Brooklyn,
face similar charges for handling the day-to-day business.

For several years, wealthy men could go online and pick
through mini-biographies of the women.
Their bodies were pictured but their faces obscured.

"Raquel," who worked in New York and LA, was described
as "an avid writer, actress and journalist."

Men paid $1,100 to $5,500 an hour or could get
discounted day or multiple-day rates of $25,000 to $50,000.
American Express and wire transfers were accepted.

Sometimes the women took imprints of the men's credit
cards on the spot and faxed them back to the pimping couple.

The operation started to unravel after one of the hookers
agreed to become a confidential source for the FBI in late 2006.

The Emperors Club boasted of customer satisfaction,
but not all the employees were happy.

One prospective prostitute in London e-mailed Suwal in
January complaining that the $1,000 an hour she'd
receive was too low, especially if the john wanted
sex twice in an hour.

"This is the kind of money I make very easily in photo shoots,"
she wrote. "But to provide sex for 500 pounds [$1,000] an hour,
I just thing [sic] this is not a price I would ever consider,"
an e-mail intercepted by the FBI read.

Brener was held with no bail after prosecutors said
he's a flight risk. Suwal was held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Hollander and Lewis were each released on
$250,000 bail that they have one week to pay.

Legal Slave Trade In Israel

The wall of Apartheid in Israel has made it virtually
impossible for many Palestinian workers to cross over to
the Israeli side for work purposes. This has resulted
in a mass influx of foreign workers, especially those
that work as caregivers for the old and sick of the
nation. Hundreds of thousands of these people are
in Israel today, most with valid visas, many
who are here illegally.

The tales they tell are unbelievably shameful and
expose yet another aspect of the racism inherent
in zionism…. I’ll deal with just one of these stories
in this post, but keep in mind that this is just one
of a thousand of such examples…

A disabled man was approached not long ago by
a man who asked if he had or needed a caregiver.
The disabled person was wheelchair bound which
made him an ‘easy target’ for the scam in the making.
He was informed that he could get a worker in his
home for ten hours a week and it would not cost
him a thing…. that’s a hard offer to refuse.

Papers were filled out, documents were signed,
interviews with government agencies, etc., etc.
Finally, all was approved and a foreign worker
from Sri Lanka was on his way to what he hoped
would be a possible way to make a few bucks to
help his destitute family back home…. BOY, was
he in for a surprise!

Upon arrival in Israel the ‘agency’ that brought him
here demanded $1,500 up front to start the process
of obtaining the proper documents for his employment.
At the Minister of Interior’s office he had to shell
out another $40 to get the work permit stamped
in his passport. He was then ready to go to work…..
but where?

His visa was obtained in the name of the disabled
man mentioned at the beginning of this post…. but
he won’t actually be working for him full time…
just for 10 hours a week… at no cost to him.
What happens the rest of the week??, and
who pays this worker for the 10 ‘free hours’ of labour???

The ‘agency’ arranges for this worker to perform his
duties as caregiver in someone else’s home…. someone
that was not able to obtain a visa in their own name.
The wage is way below the minimum, the hours
are long, and the person must be available during
his ‘free time’. Accommodation is often provided at
a fee…. usually higher than one would normally pay.
At the end of the month, his salary is barely enough
for him to survive, let alone send money to
his family as was planned.

The ten ‘free hours’ are ‘payment’ to the original
person for obtaining the visa.. NO ONE PAYS FOR IT.
the worker is a virtual slave to this person.

This entire procedure is considered the ‘norm’ in
Israel…. as it was in the southern American States
after slavery was officially ended. It is a demonstration
of the non value of life placed upon those ‘not of the tribe’
by the Israeli government.

What happens if this worker refuses to do his ‘obligated’
free hours? Simple, his visa is revoked and he darts off to
unknown territory and becomes a soldier in the army of
illegal immigrants… eventually caught and deported….
AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE.

The ‘agency’ then arranges to bring over a new worker
from abroad and the entire process is repeated as well
as more money going into the coffers of these scam masters.

In this particular case, the worker had a lucky streak…
. he told the original person involved what was going on….
the man was shocked beyond belief. He told the worker
that he would not have to work for him, that he would
not report this and his visa would not be canceled. He
was then free to work wherever he wanted, legally.

The ‘agency’ got wind of the situation and visited the
disabled person at home, wanting to know why the
worker was not doing his ‘time’ for him. The man
explained that he did not need his services as he had
a regular worker come in once a week to clean the
house, that was all he required… simple explanation….
but not so simple reaction…

The agency contacted the foreign worker, told him that
he would have to give them an additional $150 a month
to cover the cost of the man’s cleaning help… or they
would cancel his visa. Can we call this blackmail??

The worker then visited the man and wanted to know
if he intended to cancel his visa… he was told that he was
promised otherwise and not to worry and
NOT TO GIVE THE ‘AGENCY’ THE $150. the ‘agency’
could NOT cancel the visa without the man’s approval.

In this case, the worker continues to function legally
with no fear of deportation…. the ‘agency’ lost out on
their scam… and all ended well. This is not the case for
thousands of others who are virtually slaves to this
inhumane system… a system known about and allowed
to continue by the zionist regime.

Israel does not discriminate in who they discriminate
against… racism, exploitation, occupation, and now
slavery are an integral part of their system…
I wonder what Abe Foxman would say about all of this

Sex slavery and Israel’s failure to fight the growing trade

Last year, the United Nations named Israel as one of the main destinations in the world for trafficked women, according to the BBC.

Israel has also been named as an offender in the annual U.S. State Department‘s Trafficking in Persons (Tip) report, which condemned the Jewish state for not fully complying with the “minimum standards” to eliminate sex trafficking.

According to Canadian journalist and social activist Victor Malarek, “newspaper ads from modeling and employment agencies promise exciting jobs, but the women are duped… They must submit, or they are raped, beaten and tortured. There are between 5,000 and 10,000 trafficked women in Israel and more than 280 brothels in Tel Aviv alone. It is a human rights issue the Jewish community knows about. They have a voice and they must use it."

With the promise of a job and better economic and social conditions, women are driven to slavery and sold in auctions that take place in nightclubs and bars. Afterwards they are pimped, beaten and isolated. Several trafficked women are subjected to degrading human auctions, where they are stripped, examined and sold for $8,000-$10,000.

  • “They sold me- just sold me!"

The BBC interviewed one of the trafficked women in Israel, who gave her name as Marina. She is now hiding in a small house in northern Israel because she is wanted by the Israeli authorities for being an illegal immigrant and by the criminal gangs who lured her to Israel to sell her into prostitution.

"When I was in the Ukraine, I had a difficult life," said Marina, who came to Israel in 1999 at the age of 33 after answering a newspaper advertisement offering the opportunity to study abroad.

"I was taken to an apartment in Ashkelon, and other women there told me I was now in prostitution. I became hysterical, but a guy started hitting me and then others there raped me.

"I was then taken to a place where they sold me - just sold me!" she said, recalling how she was locked in a windowless basement for a month, drank water from a toilet and was deprived of food.

Although Marina managed to escape, she is still suffering from the physical and mental scars that she endured during her captivity.

Like Marina, several other women -- most from the former Soviet republics -- are trafficked into Israel legally on the false promise of jobs and better economic conditions. Recent figures show that from the beginning of the 1990s to the early years of 2000, an estimated 3,000 women a year were trafficked to Israel.

  • “Israel did absolutely nothing"

Although prostitution in Israel is legal, pimping and running a brothel are not. However, the law isn’t enforced, and several brothels masquerading as massage parlours, saunas and internet cafes could be seen on the streets.

In Tel Aviv's Neve Shaanan district for instance, a brothel is located outside the local police station!

The absence of anti-trafficking laws in Israel means that such inhumane activity is unchecked.

"During the first 10 years of trafficking, Israel did absolutely nothing," said Nomi Levenkron, of the Migrant Workers' Hotline, an NGO which helps trafficked women and puts pressure on the state to act.

"Women were trafficked into Israel - the first case we uncovered was in 1992 - and not much really happened," she said. "Occasionally traffickers were brought to trial, but the victims were arrested as well, they were forced to testify, and then they were deported."

Rachel Benziman, the legal advisor to the non-profit Israeli Women’s network, agrees, explaining how difficult it is to find witnesses. “It's not a problem of finding the right section in the criminal code. It is more a problem of finding the women who will testify”, Benziman said, according to Reuters.

What’s more shocking is that, since 1994, no single woman has testified against any trafficker. Many say this could be attributed to the fact that although women are the victims, trafficked women are the ones usually arrested as illegal immigrants, while the men who brought them to Israel, who are usually Israeli, are not.

  • “The supply of victims has not gone down”

According to NGOs, trafficking was made a crime in Israel in 2000, but the punishments were lenient and law enforcement was poor. Authorities only began to act after fierce criticism from the U.S. and the threat of sanctions. In an effort to fight sex slavery, Israel tightened its borders, launched investigations into suspected traffickers, and handed down stiff jail sentence to traffickers.

The opening of a shelter for trafficked women in north Tel Aviv in 2004 also marked a change in the way the state perceived the victims. There are some 30 women at the Maggan shelter - most from former Soviet states, but also five from China.

"When they come here they are in a bad condition," said Rinat Davidovich, the shelter's director. "Most have sexual diseases and some have hepatitis and even tuberculosis. They also have problems going to sleep because they remember what used to happen to them at night… It's very hard and it's a long procedure to start to help and treat them."

Police say their actions have led to a significant drop in the number of women now being trafficked into Israel for sex - hundreds, rather than thousands, a year.

But campaigners say increased police activity had an adverse effect as traffickers have been forced to become more discreet, making the practice more difficult to detect.

"We've been keeping tabs on trends, in terms of, for instance, prices of exploitative services," said Yedida Wolfe, of the Task Force on Human Trafficking.

"Those prices have not gone up, which leads us to believe that the supply of victims has not gone down.

"While government officials are saying that their efforts have drastically cut the number of victims in the country, the NGOs on the scene really don't feel that's true."
