After being in business for nearly ten years, The Palestine Chronicle (www.palestinechronicle.com) has launched its interactive video website just a couple of days ago Wednesday, April 29.

The Palestine Chronicle is an independent online newspaper that provides daily news, commentary, features, book reviews, photos, art, etc, on a variety of subjects. However, it is largely focused on Palestine, Israel, and the Middle East region.
The Palestine Chronicle website was established in September 1999 and has grown in its import and scope, mainly due to the support it receives from socially conscious and progressive scholars, writers, activists, readers and communities around the world.
JUSTmedia.net is an interactive video website affiliated with the Palestine Chronicle that provides media access to filmmakers, media contributors and producers.
JUSTmedia.net strives to ensure that the nature of the content of these videos pertains to issues regarding human rights, culture and politics, and will largely contain material of an educational nature.

Footage filmed by Jamal Abu-Sa’ifan, a Palestinian resident of Hebron, documenting a terrorist Israeli settler shooting two members of his family.
The event occurs following the eviction settlers from a Palestinian house they occupied in Hebron. Settlers attacked the nearby house of the Abu-Se’ifan family, and during ensuing clashes, a settler fired his handgun at Hosni Abu-Se’ifan (40), who was hit in the chest and is in stable condition, and his father, ‘Abd al-Hai Abu-Sa’ifan (65) who was moderately wounded in his arm. The two were taken to a Hebron hospital. The video shows other members of the family manage to overcome the shooter, later more terrorist settlers from the nearby settlement Kiryat Arba arrives and the scene, and fires their weapon toward the Palestinian family.

In the hours after the eviction, the terrorist Jewish settlers rioted in Hebron, throwing stones at police and Palestinians and setting fire to Palestinian trees and attacking Palestinian homes.
B’Tselem handed the video to Israeli police in Hebron last night and was “demanding that the assailant is immediately brought to justice and that the involvement of the security guard be investigated”.
“Additionally, the security forces must investigate the failures that allowed settlers to riot throughout the afternoon and evening in Hebron’s Palestinian neighbourhoods,” the rights group said.
There are more than 470,000 terrorist Jewish settlers living in the West Bank and Jerusalem and their numbers are increasing every year, even though all settlements in the occupied territories are illegal under international law.
The settlers at the Hebron house claimed they had bought the building legally nearly two years ago from a Palestinian and said they had documents and videotape as proof. However, the Palestinian has since denied selling the building to the settlers and last month the Israeli supreme court said the house should be evacuated until the ownership dispute was settled.
Hebron settler riots can only be called ‘pogrom’

Surrounding them are a few dozen masked Jews seeking to lynch them. A pogrom. This isn’t a play on words or a double meaning. It is a pogrom in the worst sense of the word. First the masked men set fire to their laundry in the front yard and then they tried to set fire to one of the rooms in the house. The women cry for help, “Allahu Akhbar.” Yet the neighbors are too scared to approach the house, frightened of the security guards from Kiryat Arba who have sealed off the home and who are cursing the journalists who wish to document the events unfolding there.
The cries rain down, much like the hail of stones the masked men hurled at the Abu Sa’afan family in the house. A few seconds tick by before a group of journalists, long accustomed to witnessing these difficult moments, decide not to stand on the sidelines. They break into the home and save the lives of the people inside. The brain requires a minute or two to digest what is taking place. Women and children crying bitterly, their faces giving off an expression of horror, sensing their imminent deaths, begging the journalists to save their lives. Stones land on the roof of the home, the windows and the doors. Flames engulf the southern entrance to the home. The front yard is littered with stones thrown by the masked men. The windows are shattered and the children are frightened. All around, as if they were watching a rock concert, are hundreds of Jewish witnesses, observing the events with great interest, even offering suggestions to the Jewish wayward youth as to the most effective way to harm the family. And the police are not to be seen. Nor is the army.
Ten minutes prior, while the security forces were preoccupied with dispersing the rioters near the House of Contention, black smoke billowed from the wadi separating Kiryat Arba and Hebron. For some reason, none of the senior officers of the police or the army were particularly disturbed by what was transpiring at the foot of Kiryat Arba. Anyone standing hundreds of meters away could notice the dozens of rioters climbing atop the roof of the Abu Sa’afan family home, hurling stones. Only moments later did it become apparent that there were people inside the home.
I quickly descend to the wadi and accost three soldiers. “What do you want from me? The three of us are responsible for the entire sector here,” one said, his hand gesturing towards the entire wadi.
“Use your radio to request help,” I said. He replies that he is not equipped with a radio.
A group of journalists approach the house. A dilemma. What to do? There are no security forces in the vicinity and now the Jewish troublemakers decided to put the journalists in their crosshairs. We call for the security guards from Kiryat Arba to intervene and put a halt to the lynch. But they surround the home to prevent the arrival of “Palestinian aid.”
The home is destroyed and the fear is palpable on the faces of the children. One of the women, Jihad, is sprawled on the floor, half-unconscious. The son, who is gripping a large stick, prepares for the moment he will be forced to face the rioters. Tahana, one of the daughters, refuses to calm down. “Look at what they did to the house, look.”
Tess, the photographer, bursts into tears as the events unfold around her. The tears do not stem from fear. It is shame, shame at the sight of these occurrences, the deeds of youths who call themselves Jews. Shame that we share the same religion. At 5:05 P.M., a little over an hour after the incident commenced, a unit belonging to the Yassam special police forces arrives to disperse the crowd of masked men. The family members refuse to calm down. Leaving the home, one can hear a settler yell at a police officer: “Nazis, shame on you.” Indeed. Shame on you.

There are over 60 high quality documentaires on their website, with each documnetary available in different formats.
Other than a documentary source, Surfethechannel is more known as a TVShow and movie streaming website. Possibly the only website that was able to cope with the Stage6 shut down. The website has an impressive Documentary section. There are almost 1800 documentaries there. For avid documentary fans there is also a latest additions feed that lets you stay on top of all recent additions from the feedreader. The only drawback, there is no other way to navigate/sort documentary videos but alphabetically. The other similar but slightly smaller services are QuickSilverScreen (QSS) and Alluc.
These 3 websites aggregate documentary videos from Google Video and nicely organize them into categories i.e. politics, health, history, religion, business etc. FreeDocumentaries also sorts videos by region (Africa, Middle East, Russia, Europe etc.). Miro (formerly Democray Player) is an all-in-one video player where you can navigate though and subscribe to over 1500 web shows, documentary channels and podacsts. Channels include TED Talks, Frontline/World, NOVA etc. mostly in HD content. Simply choose the channels you like, hit suscribe button and Miro will download new episodes as soon as they are out. You can also browse and watch existing content as well.
I am not really a fan of Joost and never use it to watch documentaries, but what it has is the quality. Most of the videos you get here are in fairly good quality. At the moment there are 27 channels in documentary section (this may vary depending on your location).
OneBigTorrent is the first place for quality documentary torrents. In their own words: “OneBigTorrent.org is a new place for sharing material that deals with or is relevant to issues of social justice, progressive and radical politics, independent media, ecology“.
Another good source for documentary movie torrents is MVGroup. The site is a forum and thus a bit hard to navigate, though it still has an active userbase.
