RAMALLAH, July 12, 2006 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas received Wednesday the UN Secretary General Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Alvaro de Soto.
During the meeting held in Ramallah, they discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, specially on light of the ongoing Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip which the civilians and infrastructure.
President Abbas affirmed the UN's role to exert efforts to bring an end to this Israeli military aggression.
For his part, de Soto told reporters following the meeting that the UN Secretary General is gravely concerned over the situation in the Gaza Strip.
