Prisoners held in Zionist jails, in the Naqab desert prison, marked the seventh anniversary of themartyrdom of Comrade LeaderAbu Ali Mustafa on August 28, 2008. Abu Ali Mustafa was assassinated on August 27, 2001, when occupation forces fired two missiles from U.S.-made Apache helicopter into his office in Ramallah.
A number of representatives of national and Islamic forces joined the PFLP prisoners in commemorating Abu Ali Mustafa and his commitment to the Palestinian revolution, to the resistance, to the Front and to the Palestinian people, confirming their adherence to his values and principles.
The prisoners called for a comprehensive national dialogue to end the internal division and called for national unity to protect the Palestinian national project and defeat the enemy.
On Saturday, August 30, 2008, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine commemorated the seventh anniversary of the martyrdom of comrade leader Abu Ali Mustafa at Park Hall in El-Bireh, attended by hundreds of members of grassroots and mass organizations, and leaders and members of the Front and many other political organizations and factions.
Comrade Khalida Jarrar, member of the Political Bureau of the PFLP, delivered the speech on behalf of the Front, calling for national unity along the path of Abu Ali Mustafa, and unity around the national goals, principles and constants of the Palestinian people, primarily the right of return of Palestinian refugees. She emphasized the importance of rebuilding the PLO on a democratic basis, the need for a left united front, and the importance of social and economic justice and social equality, emphasizing the issues of critical importance to poor and working class Palestinians.
Comrade Jarrar denounced the futile so-called "negotiations" and any illusions surrounding such negotiations, calling for an end to such negotiations with the enemy that only provide it cover for its crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Khan Younis held a mass rally on Saturday, August 30, 2008, marking the seventh anniversary of the martyrdom of Comrade Leader Abu Ali Mustafa.
The rally took place in front of the monument to the unknown soldier at the center of the city of Khan Younis, with hundreds of residents of the area, cadres and members of the Front and representatives of political forces and civil society organizations participating.
The rally was called under the banner of ending the state of division, the restoration of national unity, and the success of national dialogue. Participants carried the Palestinian flag, PFLP banners and images of the leaders of the Front: the martyr Abu Ali Mustafa, Al-Hakim, Dr. George Habash, and General Secretary Ahmad Sa'adat.
Comrade Yahya al-Ghalban, member of the Central Committee of the PFLP, delivered the speech on behalf of the PFLP, paying tribute to Abu Ali Mustafa, reviewing his life and his commitment to the Palestinian revolution, to national unity, and to the liberation of Palestine. He called for national unity of the Palestinian people now in order to confront the occupation, walking in the path of Abu Ali Mustafa. A number of other speeches were delivered on behalf of national and Islamic forces and organizations, in support of national unity and in salute to Abu Ali Mustafa.
The Democratic Popular Unity Party in Jordan held a public event on August 30, 2008, marking the seventh anniversary of the martyrdom of Comrade Leader Abu Ali Mustafa, an event that was participated in by representatives of political parties, trade unions, and national figures, as well as party members, friends and supporters.
The event was opened with a moment of silence in respect to the martyrs of the Arab resistance in Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and throughout the Arab nation.
Prof. Abdulaziz Seidar, the General Secretary of the Conference of Arab Parties, spoke paying tribute to the Palestinian people and their resistance, and to Abu Ali Mustafa and all the martyrs and prisoners of the Palestinian national struggle. He called for popular Arab pressure to lift the siege on Gaza, suppot the Palestinian people and challenge U.S. and Zionist hegemony.
Prof. Zaki bin Arsheed, General Secretary of the Action Front Party spoke on behalf of the Supreme Coordinating Committee of the Jordanian National Opposition Parties. He spoke about the Arab nature of the Palestinian struggle and paid tribute to the recently freed Jordanian prisoners. He emphasized the importance of the immediate opening of Rafah crossing.
Dr. Ahmad 'Ermuti spoke, calling for Arab unity in the struggle for the liberation of Palestine and the entire Arab nation. He denounced all attempts to end the Palestinian cause and urged the importance of national unity. He praised the resistance in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon and stated that the victories of the resistance confirm the necessity of the armed struggle in the resistance of the Palestinian people.
The recently freed prisoner Sultan Ajlouni spoke; the four heroes were honored at the event and presented with plaques. He stressed the importance of unity and continuing resistance, along the path of Abu Ali Mustafa, and praised PFLP General Secretary Comrade Leader Ahmad Sa'adat, who he met while in prison, saying that Comrade Sa'adat exemplifies courage, commitment and principles. He concluded by stating that no one can delink or undermine the unity of the Jordanian and Palestinain people.
Dr. Saeed Diab, the General Secretary of the Democratic Popular Unity Party, praised Abu Ali Mustafa in his speech, holding to the principles of the Arab and Palestinian cause. He praised all of the leaders and martyrs and prisoners of the Palestinian people and of the Arab people, emphasizing the need for national unity, unity of the left and united resistance against Zionism and imperialism.
He presented plaques honoring the four recently released prisoners - Sultan Ajlouni, Khaled Abu Ghaleon, Amin Sanae and Yousef Abu Ghaleon.
