Don't wait for others - Call your MP and local media - In regards to Gaza.

Please call your MP about the crisis in Gaza.
It can be a two minute phone calling simply
to state your disagreement with Canada's lack
of constructive action and asking for Canada
to call for a stop of the siege of Gaza. Or if your
MP did or said something helpful, tell them.
If you can take the time, then also ask for an
in-person appointment with your MP to talk.
If you set up an interview go prepared with
speaking points, one or two really good resource
materials and a clear statement of what you are
asking for from your MP and the federal government.
Please write to your local newspaper
or to the national papers.
If you write a short letter of just 100 words it will
more likely get published. Focus on one main
point and state it logically. You must sign your
name, address and daytime phone number.
They won't print your address or number but they
often phone the person to confirm before
publishing the letter.
If you are a good writer, for longer letters phone
the editor directly and ask to write an opinion piece
(op-ed). They might give you 600 words.
Phone your local newspaper
or the national papers.
Make a quick phone call to the editor and ask
why there is so little coverage of what is
happening in Gaza and why that coverage
does not give the Palestinian perspective.
Ask them why they don't publish things like
Arbour's statement, or that Hamas some time
ago said they would speak with Abbas and had
called for a truce. Check your facts before calling.

Forward them articles by email that you recommend
that they publish. (They can arrange the copyright issues.)
If you do not get satisfaction, call the newspaper's
ombudsman or the
Ontario Press Council. http://www.ontpress.com/
Information sharing over the Internet is empowering,
effective, immediate, more accurate and complete.
But supposedly only 10% of Canadians get their
news from the Internet.
We still have to try to get into the mainstream newspaper.
Talk to our MPs, even if we don't agree with them
or think they don't listen. Support those MPs who
we agree with. Build a relationship with your local MP.
