Zionism All Over The Canadian Political Scene

What Canadian Arabs, Muslims and human rights allies need to know before they vote in this up coming Federal Election

This contains important information that Arabs and Muslims should remember when they vote.  I do not agree with the writer however, that the solution is to vote NDP – we must all vote for whoever has the best chance of beating the Conservative candidate in the individual ridings -  my foreword is in red.

Thanks, Linda

This article contains valuable information about both the Liberal and Conservative support for Israel and suggests that the NDP is the only logical voting choice for Canadian Arabs and Muslims.    However, the article fails to mention that the NDP has succumbed to Zionist pressures as well and that the person touted as its next leader, Thomas Mulcair, is the MP responsible for the vicious personal attack on Libby Davies, a pro-justice member of his own party just last June.  Even worse, Jack Layton apologized to the Israeli ambassador to Canada for Ms. Davies statement regarding the occupation of Palestine.
Although former leader Alexa McDonough spoke out frequently for Palestinian rights, in 2002 she 2002 removed Svend Robinson  from his role as parliamentary critic for the Middle East after he referred to Israel's killing of Palestinian civilians as terrorist actions.
So although the article is valuable for the variety of information it provides and right chastises the Arab and Muslim community for its failure to engage in the political process, it is the opinion of this write that the Harper government is such a threat to Canadian democracy, social programs and economic interests that all Canadians should make defeating this government their top priority when voting.   This means voting for he candidate (Liberal, NDP or Green)  most likely to defeat the Conservative candidate.
Results of the 2008 election by riding can be found on the Elections Canada website.  (Click on the province of interest in the table entitled "2008 Canadian Election Results by Province".)   Thomas Mulcair is running in the Outremont riding of Montreal.  He won over his Liberal opponent by about 2350 votes in the last election.    For anyone who wants the NDP to retain any balance at all on Middle East issues,  voting strategically to defeat Mulcair should be a top priority.

What Canadian Arabs and Muslims need to know before they vote

By Meer Sahib, Ottawa

It is Elections time, and I was trying to feel the pulse of the community. Almost everyone I spoke to seems to agree that the party of choice for Canadian Muslims is the NDP.

Faced with the perils of voting Conservatives or Liberals, the inevitable choice for Muslims seems to be the NDP.

Below, I am providing *my analysis* and the reasons why I believe this is a wise choice, and also *what the perils are*, in voting for Conservatives or Liberals.

First, let us look at the CONSEQUENCES OF MUSLIMS NOT BEING ENGAGED IN THE POLITICAL PROCESS:

Up to now, politics has been far less interesting to us than cricket, ballgames, hockey, satellite soap-operas, FaceBook and so on. Such political aloofness has been to our great detriment, affecting our rights, welfare, security and even our existence in our new homelands. Other ethnic communities, particularly the Indians, Chinese, Sikhs et al, have actively engaged in the political process and hence have reaped massive benefits. Among them are Parliamentarians, Ministers, and Premiers, who became 'caucus insiders' and decision makers. Imagine, had Muslims been in such positions,if Islamophobia could have spread like wildfire or draconian laws targeting Muslims could be enacted.
