Abbas a sellout the People of Gaza and to all of Palestine?

Abbas to withdraw support for the Goldstone report

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM/ RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The PA authority in Ramallah lead by Mahmoud Abbas, whose term in office has expired, is withdrawing its support for the Goldstone report which accuses Israel of war crimes in Gaza, according to press reports.

Haaretz reported on Thursday that the PA will withdraw its support for the report which is supposed to be voted on at the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva on Friday.

Saeb Urikat, chief PA negotiator, denied the news on al-Jazeera tv on Friday morning, saying that the voting on the report will be deferred to March.

The USA and Israel pressured Abbas to withdraw PA support for the report threatening him with stopping the "peace negotiations", cutting off the lines to his son's telecommunications company and probably threats to expose the role played by the PA during the war on Gaza.

The face-saving formula reached by the PA, with the help of the USA and Israel, seems to be to try and hamper the voting on the report and put it off till March, rather than a straightforward withdrawal which would prove disastrous for the PA at home.
