One Palestinian Killed in IOF incursion into Rafah

-- Sustaining their military escalation against the Gaza Strip,
the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) before dawn Sunday
infiltrated houses east of the town of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip
killing at least one Palestinian and wounding nine others, two
days after their aircraft fired missiles at a building in the
Al-Bureij refugee camp in Gaza Strip on Friday evening,
killing Ayman Fayyad, 42, his wife, three-year-old daughter,
two sons aged five and 18 and three neighbors, and
wounding more than fifty civilians, including around 20 children.

Palestinian medical sources announced that Ibrahim Sabbah,21,
Abdelsalam Abu Sosin, Abdelkarim Alhalban, Naser Abu Shabab,
and more than 15 others were wounded early Sunday while
encountering the IOF incursion into eastern Rafah city in
southern Gaza Strip.

The Fayyad house was completely destroyed Friday in the
IOF missile attack and at least 10 other houses were
damaged by the blast, witnesses and an AFP
correspondent said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and
Palestinian organizations, including both
Hamas and Fatah, issued statements blaming
Israel for the attack.

The impoverished Gaza Strip is home to eight refugee camps,
and Bureij is both the smallest and the most populated.

Meanwhile, Palestinian man Ala'a Abu Haddaf, 21,
was announced dead Saturday of wounds he sustained
earlier during a clash with IOF soldiers in Gaza Strip.

According to United Nations statistics, in the third
week of January, Israeli security forces killed 23
Palestinians and wounded 70 in Gaza, compared
with 3 Israeli civilians injured by Qassam rockets. I
srael also sent in tanks, one of which fired shells
at a high school in Beit Hanun, killing a teacher and
wounding three students. Other tanks, backed by
helicopters, carried out raids in parts of Gaza City,
wounding several Palestinian anti-occupation activists.

The total number of Palestinians, mostly from Gaza Strip,
killed since the US brokered peace talks in Annapolis last
November is more than 168 and gets higher by the day.
