and protest against the situation in Gaza, including the Israeli occupation;
Hamas and Fatah, economic sanctions, border closures, poverty,
unemployment and safety and security.
They closed the main street in Rafah, stopping all traffic, and read what
they are asking of Abu Mazen (Fatah Representative) and Haniya's (Hamas
Representative) government, of Israel and of the international community.
They stated the following:
"We are mothers, sisters, daughters of Palestinians in Rafah and we ask for
the following:"
- First and foremost, end the Israeli occupation of Gaza, and the West Bank
and the rest of Palestine.
- We ask Hamas and Fatah to stop the violence on our young men, to stop
dragging them into your politics and getting them killed.
- We ask for the unity of Gaza, of our Palestinian People;
- We ask Hamas and Fatah for protection, for safety for our children and our
families;
- We ask for medical aid for our children;
- We ask for our salaries to be paid so we can buy school supplies for our
children and pay their tuition;
- We ask for our rights and our children's rights;
- We ask Hamas and Fatah to return our children that were kicked out and are
sitting in Egypt;
- We ask the world to open the Rafah border, to open Erez, to open Kerem
Shalom;
- We ask the world to find us a solution to Gaza's economic situation, to
find us a solution for our conditions;
- They ended with the following:
- We're tired and our children are tired....we just want to live in safety
and be protected and provide for our children...
