Watch this heart-wrenching video of how the village of Artas is treated by
the Israeli colonizers (uprooting trees and running sewage through village
lands)
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cjwI26-zV74 (video forwarded by Suzanne)
After watching this and knowing that not a single Israeli academic, cultural
or environmental institution raises an eyebrow about such gross human rights
violations, what do you say about the cultural, academic, and other boycotts
of Israel?
I will be leading two workshops this weekend at the Sabeel Conference in
California on these issues (see http://www.fosna.org/conferences_and_trips
). I will be giving a series of other talks in the next few weeks in the US
including on my recent trip to Palestine and on the boycotts, divestments,
and sanctions. On Monday, I will be talking on boycotts in CT, on Sept 7-8,
I will speak at the Unitarian Universalist annual conference in New
Hampshire and on Sept 9 to Cape Cod (Massachussets) Peace community. On Oct
21, I will be in North Carolina and in between I will be at the Wheels of
Justice bus tour for two weeks in Western states (see
http://justicewheels.org). I am available to give other talks this fall in
your area until my trip to South America in late November. I also urge
activists to attend the US Campaign to End the Occupation Conference Sept
8-9 (see http://endtheoccupation.org ) and participate in the March on
Washington September 15 (see http://answer.pephost.org).
BTW, the Wheels of Justice network has agreed to encourage its member groups
to begin preparation for events marking the 60th anniversary of the Nakba
(ethnic cleansing and dispossession of Palestine). The launch date for this
year of activities as suggested by a number of groups and coalitions will be
November 29th, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People (see http://www.un.org/depts/dhl/palestinian/). We also urge all
people to travel to Palestine in 2008 (Palestinians for family
reunifications and to visit their homeland, Internationals for solidarity
trips etc). Watch for announcements of a number of conferences and
programs. Encourage all your friends and colleagues to join and work for
justice which is the prerequisite for peace.
Find and post information about your events here
