IOF troops kidnap 15 Palestinians in WB, use others as human shields

Large numbers of the IOF troops backed by 40 military vehicles rounded up 15 Palestinian citizens in different parts of the occupied West Bank, including Ramallah, Al-Khalil, and Bethlehem cities among other places in pre-dawn raids Thursday.

According to an IOF spokesman, the 15 arrested Palestinians were resistance activists from Hamas Movement, Fatah, and the PFLP, adding that the IOF defused a roadside bomb planted in Jenin city with the aim to detonate it in the IOF military convoy intruding the city.

Two Palestinian resistance fighters identified only as Abu Al-Kasam and Al-Khafeef have survived assassination attempt when IOF troops raided the city’s refugee camp and attempted to ambush them. No reports on casualties or arrests were revealed during the raid.

In Nablus city, large numbers of Israeli occupation army stormed the city from many directions before stationing in the city’s center amidst intensive machinegun shooting and random firing of stun bombs.

Five Palestinian citizens were arrested during the raid before IOF troops ransacked two Palestinian homes in the area, seizing their inhabitants and using them as human shields during the operation.

The Israeli Supreme Court had earlier ruled that the use of Palestinian citizens as human shields during IOF troops' operations is illegal and against the law, yet, the IOF troops remained defiant and continued such internationally-prohibited practice.

On the other hand, Omar Abu Shreia, 30, the secretary-general of Al-Mujahideen Brigades, succumbed to serious wounds he sustained six months ago when Israeli choppers targeted his car in Al-Zaitun suburb, east of Gaza city.

The raid, which was carried out in October last year, had instantly killed Rajae Al-Labban, 30, a comrade of Abu Shreia and his companion in the car; and Abu Shreia was seriously wounded.

According to Palestinian medical sources, Abu Shreia was sent abroad for medication over the seriousness of his condition, and remained fighting for his life till he died of his wounds.

His body is expected to arrive into Gaza within a couple of days.
