PA foreign ministry accuses Washington of blocking PA unity government

Gaza - The PA foreign affairs ministry has reiterated its plain accusation of the United States of America of flagrant interference in the Palestinian internal affairs, and working to block the establishing of a PA national unity government.

In a statement it issued Thursday, the ministry charged the USA of working to inflict devastating repercussions in the Palestinian arena, and to derail efforts made to create the PA national coalition government through its organized instigation against the current democratically-elected government.

The statement further pointed out that what had US-secretary of state Condoleezza Rice earlier said on wagering on a possible Palestinian internal division reflected the volume of the American-Israeli conspiracy against the Palestinian people, and their non-stop attempts to divide the Palestinian people and create confusion in the Palestinian arena.

Rice had previously warned Palestinian political factions and parties against heeding Hamas' calls in participating in a national unity government during the first days of the current PA government. Her warnings were well-received by those factions, prompting Hamas to form the government unilaterally.

Facing such conspiracies, the ministry called on the Palestinian people to rally behind their elected government and the agreed-upon national harmony document in confronting the American-Israeli schemes against them.

"We should not heed the American dictates; otherwise, we would find ourselves before a day when the White House will be the one that names PA ministers", the statement warned.

Furthermore, the ministry urged the PA presidency-controlled PA TV and Wafa news agency to stop inciting against the PA government, and to flex their muscles in stead in unmasking the American-Israeli connivance and their unjust blockade against the Palestinian people.

Both media apparatuses were actively interviewing suspended PA officials accused of corruption, including Ibrahim Khuraisha, former PLC employee among others, and give them ample time to instigate the Palestinian public against their government.

"Wafa (the Palestinian news agency) has allowed itself to give all the time to Khuraisha in assaulting the person of PA foreign minister Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar; but mentioned nothing about the important meeting Zahhar held with the Brazilian ambassador on the same day", the statement charged.
