On the anniversary of the Aqsa Intifada Hamas calls for unity

Gaza – On the anniversary of the Aqsa Intifada which started on September 28, 2000 the Hamas movement called all Palestinian factions to unite and work together to face the dangers faced by the Palestinian people, most important of these is the apartheid wall, the expansion of settlements and the denial of the right of return.

Hamas stressed that Palestinian efforts should concentrate on warding off these dangers rather that wasted in trying to thwart the elected government and cause chaos in the internal Palestinian arena.

In a statement on the occasion, Hamas said that the Intifada carried many great meanings of steadfastness, perseverance and dignity that the Palestinian people expressed in the form of great sacrifices to build a glorious future for the Palestinian people.

In the statement Hamas greeted the martyrs, the prisoners and their families who persevered, to an extent that is difficult to match in our times, in the face of the Israeli monstrous machine of terror and distruction.

Hamas added in the statement that the Israelis strove hard to tame the Palestinian people through deceitful schemes of normalization and that some were fooled by such schemes, but it was soon apparent that the price was forfeiting rights, land and holy places.

The Aqsa Intifada revived resistance as a viable option for the Palestinians Hamas stressed in the statement.

It was resistance which made Israel reconsider its strategies and it was directly responsible for the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip according to the statement.

Finally, Hamas stressed that it rejects all forms of external diktats and international pressures which aim to force the Palestinian people to give up their rights.
