Palestinian NGO's Condem Murder of Italian Volunteer

(WAFA) -Palestinian NGO's in Jerusalem condemned Saturday the ruthless murder of an Italian volunteer in Sultan Suleiman Street in Jerusalem on August, 2006.

In a press release, Palestinian NGO's in Jerusalem added that Angelo Frammartino, age 24, and his friends were walking towards the Old City, when he was attacked and stabbed by an unknown male assailant.

It added that "Angelo was part of a group of young Italian peace volunteers that since more than a week had been organising day-care activities with children in the Burj al Luqluq community centre in the Old City of Jerusalem."

"Nothing could describe our emotions for what happened. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Angelo, they have our deepest sympathy," Dyala Husseini of the Burj Al Luqluq community centre said.

The press release concluded that several Palestinian NGO's will be organising a vigil in memory of Angelo and to show solidarity with his family and friends in Italy. The vigil will be organised in Jerusalem, on Sultan Suleiman Street, between Damascus Gate and Herod's gate, on Sunday, August 13, at 19h30.

IOF Erects Iron Gate on Tulkarm-Nablus Road

Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) erected Saturday morning an iron gate and large concrete obstacles on Tulkarm-Nablus road in the West Bank (WB).

WAFA correspondent said that IOF has established the gate on the junction leading to the Jewish colony "Shafi Shomron."

A number of citizens have voiced concern that this gate will turn into a permanent barrier in light of the Israeli closures on the northern governorates of WB.

This is the only road that connects the governorates of Jenin, Tulkarem and Qalqilya. Tulkarem- Nablus road has been closed for several months.
