Israel continues is it destruction on Lebanon

Israeli commandos continue to raid Hezbollah bastions in what Lebanon called a "naked violation" of the UN-backed truce.

On the ground, locals say the Israeli troops unloaded from helicopters were beaten back and withdrew under the cover of air strikes.

Lebanon and the Hezbollah say this is a blatant violation of a UN sponsored ceasefire.

"This is new proof that the Israeli enemy is still carrying on with its aggression over Lebanon and that it doesn't care about the resolutions taken by the UN Security Council.

"Therefore we do not consider what happened as new for the enemy but the resistance is still insisting that it will fight against any Israeli attempt," said Hassan Hobballah, MP, Hezbollah.

Enforcing the resolution

It's a shaky truce. Lebanon has started sending in its army into the south and 50 troops arrived in the Lebanese port of Naqoura as reinforcements.

France has pledged 200 more, the UN says that isn't enough.

Worried world leaders like President Jacques Chirac are now working diplomatic channels on how the UN plans to give a final 15,000 force the mandate to enforce peace. (With AP inputs)
