Anonymous ‘Hacktivists’ Take Down Israeli Government Sites After IDF Kills 14-Year-Old Protester

The hacktivist group Anonymous has struck the Israeli government once again in what they are calling #OpOrwahHammad.
The War on Gaza may officially be over (for now), but Anonymous is not sleeping on the civilians that the State of Israel continues to take the lives of. Most recently, outrage has mounted against the Israeli Defense Forces shooting of 14-year-old U.S. citizen Orwah Hammad.

IDF officials say that the boy was about to “throw a firebomb towards Route 60,” but his family and protesters say that he was holding a burning Israeli flag and that IDF troops shot him out of spite when they saw this.
In any event, the killing of 14-year-old Orwah Hammad, who was born in New Orleans, could further complicate already growing tensions between Israel and the United States.
IDF sources told Reuters that they applauded the killing, as the soldiers “managed to prevent an attack when they encountered a Palestinian man hurling a molotov cocktail at them on the main road next to Silwad. They opened fire and they confirmed a hit.”
Eye-witnesses, however, say that the boy was simply holding a burning Israeli flag at a protest, corroborating what protesters told us, and contradicting the official IDF account. Some protesters told us there is an image of this floating around, but we have yet to confirm such a photograph, while finding something similar depicted in a photograph of an earlier protest in Silwad.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said “The United States expresses its deepest condolences to the family of a U.S. citizen minor who was killed by the Israeli Defense Forces during clashes in Silwad on October 24.”
Psaki called for an investigation of the shooting and said that the U.S. will remain “closely engaged with the local authorities, who have the lead on this investigation.”
Hammad is not the first Palestinian teen that the IDF has killed recently. Just last week, the IDF shot and killed 13-year-old in the West Bank.
In response, Anonymous says they are hitting their favorite targets from earlier anti-IDF operations, such as their previous #OpGazaCounterHack and #OpHasbaraTrolls as well as #OpEndTheSettlements, to hit back back harder than before in the name of Orwah Hammad.
#OpOrwahHammad has officially kicked-off now, and Israeli government websites are feeling it. Anonymous is targeting Israeli government websites in protest of the killing of young Orwah Hammad.

CCN - The hacktivist group Anonymous has struck the Israeli government once again in what they are calling #OpEndTheSettlements. The War on Gaza may officially be over (for now), but Anonymous is not sleeping.
Morphing their previous #OpGazaCounterHack and #OpHasbaraTrolls, Anonymous is hitting back harder than before.
#OpGazaCounterHack targeted Israeli government websites in an effort to strike back at the closure of Anonymous social media accounts that had been spreading reports out of Gaza on Israeli strikes.
But now Anonymous is targeting Israel in protest of the illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, saying that they are an obstacle to both peace and a Palestinian State.
Our contacts in the hacktivist group tell us that this should be a “no brainer,” as the ever-expanding, and illegal settlements have even been denounced by Western politicians. Until Israel agrees to finally start abiding by international law, the hacker group says they will always have to look over their shoulders (and web servers) for Anonymous.

This Past Weekend Saw Anonymous Hit Israeli Government Websites Even HARDER In ANOTHER Massive Cyber Attack

CCN - This weekend, the hacktivist group Anonymous has struck the Israeli government harder than before. Last week, #OpGazaCounterHack targeted Israeli government websites in an effort to strike back at the closure of Anonymous social media accounts that had been spreading reports out of Gaza on Israeli strikes.
This week, Anonymous hit back even harder, in what they have termed #‎OpHasbaraTrolls‬.
The term Hasbara is a Hebrew word meaning “explaining,” but it refers specifically to public relations propaganda efforts to spread positive information about the State of Israel.
Since #OpGazaCounterHack last week, Anonymous social media accounts and groups have been inundated with “Hasbara trolls” according to the hacktivists involved in today’s cyber attacks.

Anonymous calls for Israeli boycott with massive Twitter protest

Anonymous’s most successful tweetstorm to date, “OpBOYCOTTIsrael,” trended worldwide. It provided “images and articles that promote boycott and divestment, expose Israeli war crimes and crimes against Palestinian children, and call out companies who profit off Israeli apartheid.”

In July, the European Union proposed a ban on providing financial assistance to Israeli organizations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip—a move Secretary of State John Kerry urged the E.U. to postpone. Last month, the Palestinan Authority reached out to 50 countries around the world to apply economic pressure to companies with business dealings in Israeli settlements.
On Saturday, hacktivist collective hosted its most successful tweetstorm to date, #OpBOYCOTTIsrael, in which it provided “70 tweets with images and articles that promote boycott and divestment, expose Israeli war crimes and crimes against Palestinian children, and call out companies who profit off Israeli apartheid.”
By flooding a given Twitter hashtag, Anonymous makes its point of focus trend globally, helping raise awareness through sheer ubiquity and curiosity. This particular tweetstorm was nearly a week in the making. A Pastebin document detailing the objective was released Nov. 4.
The long-term goal is to encourage citizens everywhere to use the so-called BDS techniques—boycotts, divestment, and sanctions—to to “undermine the cash that bankrolls Palestinian oppression.” It’s an ambitious aim, but BDS techniques have been successful in the past.
“A growing number of religious and political projects across the planet are embracing disinvestment as a form of economic pressure against Israeli occupation of Palestinian land,” reads a second, much more extensive Pastebin document. “Disinvestment works – the strategy played a potent role in dismantling apartheid in South Africa and it can work to dismantle Israeli apartheid in Palestine, too.”
The second Pastebin document also contains resources for Palestinians in Gaza who have had their Internet cut off in the past (remember #OpIsrael?), including links to a dialup supplier of choice in emergency situations and a guide to dealing with the media and generating coverage.
The tweetstorm was unusually disciplined and launched massively. The hashtag clocked up 22,301 tweets in its period of activity. The hashtag trended worldwide briefly, and the related #FreePalestine trended for several hours.
