Huckabee resurrects infamous ‘Daisy’ ad to ramp up fears of an attack on Israel — and raise cash

The original ad was used by the Johnson campaign to scare voters away from Goldwater, who was portrayed as a warmonger known for fiery rhetoric and his quote: ” I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!”

In the original ad the little girl plucks petals from a daisy which is used as a countdown to an atomic explosion shown in grainy black and white. The original ad contained the caution: “These are the stakes… We must either love each other or we must die.”

Huckabee’s ad keeps the same feel and imagery before ending with a twist: “A threat to Israel is a threat to America. Stand with Israel. Reject a nuclear Iran.”

The ad then directs viewers to go to Huckabee’s website to sign a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, however signers must supply an email address first that will undoubtedly be used for fund raising purposes for his campaign.
