Gaza crisis is a ‘major defeat’ for humanity

Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian surgeon volunteering at a Gaza hospital, called the conflict a “major defeat for the development of humanity,” in an interview with Al Arabiya News Channel.

Gilbert practices in Gaza’s al-Shifa’a Hospital, where he and Palestinian medical personnel have worked to save the lives of hundreds of civilians who were injured during Israel’s strikes on the Gaza strip.

“What we see playing out under our eyes is the total lack of respect for international humanitarian laws,” he told the interviewer, in reference to the Israeli army’s ongoing offensive against the Gaza Strip, which has led to the deaths of over 1,400 people.

Gilbert previously invited U.S. President Barack Obama to spend a night in the hospital to see the consequences of the Israeli assault on the Palestinian enclave.
