11 Palestinian MPs arrested

NABLUS, (PIC)-- The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) waged on Monday an arrest campaign against members of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) and academics in the West Bank.
Eyewitnesses revealed that Israeli troops stormed Salfit city and arrested the MP Dr. Omar Abdel Razek, Finance Minister in the tenth Palestinian government.
MP Abdel Razek spent more than six years in Israeli jails, while his son was arrested by Israeli forces in mid-June.
Israeli occupation forces also arrested the MP Khaled Said, from Jenin, and MP Ibrahim Dahbour after raiding their homes.
PLC deputy Dawoud Abu Sir was also arrested from his home in Nablus. He previously spent a period of time behind Israeli bars.
The occupation forces also stormed the lecturer at Al-Najah University Dr. Abdel-Sattar Qassem’s home. MP Fathi Qaraawi and MP Riyad Raddad were detained today after breaking into their homes in Tulkarem.
In Ramallah, Israeli forces arrested MP Fadel Hamdan only few months after undergoing a heart surgery.
IOF soldiers detained MP Riad Omla, from Kaplan town south of Nablus, and the MP Mohammed Abu Jehich after surrounding his home in Idna town southern al-Khalil.
MP Nayef Rajoub was arrested from his home in Dura town late yesterday.
The arrests in the West Bank rises the Palestinian PLC deputies’ number held in Israeli jails to 36 MPs including 34 deputies affiliated with the Change and Reform Bloc.
For its part, Hamas Movement affirmed that today’s arrests came as part of the Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people.
Spokesman for the Movement Sami Abu Zuhri held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for consequences of its arrest campaign.
Israeli occupation forces carried out a large-scale arrest campaign in the West Bank at dawn Monday targeting Hamas affiliates, members of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), and liberated prisoners.
