Israel talks of 'peace' whilst increasing settlements and ethnic cleansing, besieging Gaza

On the eve of 'peace' talks, Israel announces a further 942 settlement units in East Jerusalem, on top of its announcement of the construction of over 1000 more illegal Israeli settlements on Sunday. The US' responded by John Kerry telling Palestinians‘not to react adversely’ as it was ‘to some degree expected’.   Whilst much has been made of Israel's announcement of prisoner releases, Addameer points out that Israel’s policy of prisoners releases is not a “goodwill gesture” to build trust during negotiations, but is used by the Israeli government to manipulate the prisoners issues and distract from their core issues and demands. Click here for more on how the ‘prisoner release’ story is being manipulated as emotional propaganda for Israel.   In Gaza, the intensified blockade is creating further crisis, but Zuhdi Elifraniji, a medical student in Gaza, sent a message of hope.

Act against Israel's ethnic cleansing in the Naqab

The Prawer Plan will see the forcible transfer of up to 70,000 Palestinian Bedouin from their ancestral homeland in the Naqab (Negev desert) into enclosed townships. It will be the single biggest act of ethnic cleansing against Palestinians since 1948. On Sunday 15 September, PSC supporters will be walking along the Thames to raise funds for the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. PSC relies on funding from our members and supporters to carry out our work, and all money will be used towards our campaigning activities.   Please help make a difference – every pound raised will be used to campaign for a Free Palestine. You can support the walk in two ways: To take part, and join us on the day, please  fill in this form. Or if you are unable to join us in person, you can donate today  (just choose ‘sponsored walk’ from the drop down menu)   An 8.5 mile walk along the most picturesque stretch of the Thames in West London. Starting at Putney Bridge we pass boathouses (start of the boat-race) and the Barnes Wetland Centre. We cross the river at Hammersmith past the pubs and Georgian houses of Hammersmith and Chiswick Malls. We cross back to the south bank at Barnes where the river takes on a more rural feel as we pass Dukes Meadows, Kew Gardens and Syon Park. The walk finishes in Buccleuch Gardens near Richmond Bridge where soft drinks will be provided by Richmond and Kingston PSC. The walk is along (mostly) well surfaced paths and is well served by public transport for those not wanting to do the whole walk.

Palestine raises the roof at the Proms Violinist Nigel Kennedy played at the Royal Albert Hall last week with members of the Palestine Strings – young musicians from Gaza and the West Bank – in a late night Prom. Rave reviews of the performance followed, including in the Independent. With the Palestinian perfomers wearing keffiyehs throughout the concert, Nigel Kennedy told the packed audience, and up to 2 million listening live on the BBC, that 'Giving equality and getting rid of apartheid gives a beautiful chance for amazing things to happen'.
