If you’re haredi, not very much.

Nechama Rothberger, 21, who killed a Chinese restaurant owner who was returning on his scooter to his restaurant after delivering an order, admitted yesterday that she was texting while driving.

In return for that admission and for pleading guilty to criminaly negligent homicide, Rothenberger got D.A. Charles Hynes version of justice for haredim – no prison time.

Instead, she’ll serve five years’ probation and do 100 hours of community service talking to kids about the dangers of texting while driving.

Presumably, many of those kids will be students of Brooklyn haredi seminaries.

Tian Sheng Lin’s family reportedly agreed to the plea deal.

But previous examples of Hynes’ office lying to and strong arming victims and victims’ families raise the suspicion that agreement, if it really happened, was coerced.

Lin, who had three children, emigrated from China to escape punishment for violating the country’s one-child per family law. He was killed in September 2010 when a texting 19-year-old Rothenberger slammed into him while he was stopped at a red light.

The New York Daily News – viewed as a Hynes mouthpiece by many observers – relied on unnamed sources to report that Lin’s family has a pending lawsuit against Rothberger “that can pay out a seven-figure settlement.”

The Daily News gave no reason for not naming those sources.

Those unnamed sources are likely prosecutors in Charles Hynes’ office and Rothenberger’s attorney, Jeffrey Schwartz.

Schwartz negotiated a similar plea for notorious haredi pedophile Rabbi Yehuda Kolko.

In that case, Kolko avoided prison and did not have to register as a sex offender.

The D.A.’s office manipulated the victims’ families and lied to them (and then later lied about them) in order to get Kolko his sweetheart deal.

Kolko is now in court again, charged with harassing one of his child victims.
