Press TV - Israel's military has committed an incursion into the Lebanese territory near the location where it carried out a deadly border violation last year.
On Thursday, an Israeli tank crossed the border near the southern village of Abbasiyyeh, AFP reported.
"The Merkava tank entered a zone claimed by Lebanon," the Lebanese Army said with a security official noting that the tank advanced four meters before returning.
Tel Aviv has launched several wars on Lebanon, killing around 1,200 Lebanese -- mostly civilians -- in its most recent offensive in 2006.
The deadliest Israeli incursion into Lebanon took place in August, when an Israeli patrol unit moved into a village, prompting an exchange of fire with the Lebanese military. The standoff killed three Lebanese soldiers, a Lebanese journalist and a senior Israeli officer.
Israeli fighter planes and spy aircraft engage in near-daily violations of Lebanon's airspace.
The incursions violate the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 war and called on the Israeli regime to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Beirut has complained to the world body about Tel Aviv's disregard for the resolution.
The Thursday violation took place in the presence of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, or the UNIFIL, which is mandated to patrol southern Lebanon and to ensure that Israel observes Lebanon's sovereignty.
