Five Palestinians Wounded In Israeli Air Strikes In Gaza

File - Israeli Escalation In GazaIMEMC   - Palestinian medical sources reported that five Palestinians were wounded on Saturday morning when the Israeli army bombarded several areas in the Gaza Strip. Israel claimed that 48 shells were recently fired from Gaza into the Western Negev. 


Two Palestinians, including one child, were wounded when the army bombarded border areas east of the Gaza Strip. 

One of the attacked targets is a security base for the Hamas movement, in Al Shujaeyya neighborhood, east of Gaza city.

Adham Abu Salmiyya, spokesperson of the Higher Committee of the Medical Emergency Services, stated that a three-year-old was wounded in his head, and that a 26-year-old resident was wounded in his arm and leg. Both were moved to the Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza city.

The Israeli Air Force also fired three missiles at Abasan town, east of Gaza. The army also bombarded a number of areas east of the Gaza Strip, including Ammar Bin Yasser Mosque, east of Al Qarara, and several areas in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses reported that the army also bombarded the Gaza International Airport in Rafah, and Al Shouka area in Rafah leading to excessive damage. 

The closed Airport was repeatedly bombarded by Israeli is recent years and its runways were bulldozed. 

The Israeli Army claimed that resistance fighters in Gaza fired on Saturday morning more than 49 mortars into the Western Negev, and that two Israelis were wounded. 

According to Israeli reports, 10 mortars were fired on Friday into the Western Negev. 

On Saturday morning, resistance groups in Gaza claimed responsibility for firing several mortars at the Kerem Shalom and Sofa military camps, south east of the Gaza Strip. 

The Al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, also claimed responsibility for firing homemade shells into Israeli areas along the border with Gaza.

Ismail Radwan, a political leader of Hamas, slammed the Israeli escalation against Gaza, and added that Israel is responsible for this escalation. 

Radwan said that the resistance will defend its people, and that “the repeated Israeli military assaults cannot defeat Hamas, and the resistance”.

“Israel should not try to test our retaliation”, Radwan said, “The resistance has the right to defend itself and the Palestinian people”.
