EVENT FOR ISRAELI WAR CRIMINAL CANCELLED

boat logo

EVENT CANCELLED:

This evening's protest at NYU
has been called off because the
talk has been cancelled.

Students for Justice in Palestine at NYU

and others had called for a protest at
the scheduled speech by an Israeli
commando on their campus on
Thursday evening. He was one of
the first Israeli military personnel to
illegally board the Mavi Marmara, a
ship in the Freedom Flotilla that was
headed to Gaza last Spring. During
the assault by the Israelis, nine
unarmed human rights activists
were killed, including a Turkish
American, and over fifty people
were wounded.

The protest was quickly gathering
momentum in a very short time,
and that sent a strong message:
We will not sit by quietly while
war criminals are welcomed and
hailed as heroes in our universities.

The organizers said they "are being

forced to cancel" the event "due to
serious safety and security issues,"
although they did not spell that out.
Whatever the reason, we will continue
to expose the injustice of the Israeli
government, whose actions are only
possible with the support of the U.S.
government.

WE WILL NOT BE SILENT
WE WILL BE HEARD

Our work continues.
