And, despite being a relatively poor country, Syria's (despotic) regime still manages to feed, house and educate the vast majority of her people. In addition, the Syrian foreign policy is very popular. Yes there is poverty and corruption, but less poverty than one would see in a country in a comparable stage of development. Regards,
La Duqesa you are right, Syria ia different. we need Syria as it is now, the back-bone of the Arab resistances.
Damascus where history starts !!
Some voices are rising mentioning Syria as if there is any logic of continuity or any logic of similarity with what is happening today in Egypt.
Well , apart from being a matter of opinion or a matter of " wishful thinking" I say that Syria is not Egypt :
1- Syria did not sign any agreement with Israel whether Peace or anything of that sort
2- Syria is the only active militant anti-Israel more even than those peace-clowns of Ramallah
3- Syria is the back-bone of the Arab resistances a) Hamas b) Hezbollah c) PDPLP d) PFLP e) Amal f) SSNP
4- Syria did not help invading Iraq , nor Afghanistan Syria is not "the greatest ally of the USA" in the Middle East 5- Syria did not close the Tunnels of Gaza nor is Syria selling OIL and GAS to Israel !!
and the list is endless.......
Therefore those "US-democracy-lovers" should start by cleaning their own house first !!!
Syria is our fortress !! and we shall turn this Fortress into a Palace only after that Israel is dismantled !!
