At an honorary farewell ceremony for former Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, a leaked video was shown revealing a clear-cut admission to planning of the bombing of Deir ez Zor in Syria, in September 2007, and last year's cyber attack on Iran's nuclear program, Haaretz said.
According to Israeli officials, the information could form a legal basis for the Syrian government to take legal action against Israel over the attack.
With regard to the attack on Iran, Israeli intelligence designed and used the Stuxnet computer worm with the aim to sabotage a fifth of Iran's nuclear centrifuges. The incident drew heavy media attention pointing to Israel and the US as the prime suspects. Israel had not made comments on the accusations at that time.
The Shin Bet has reportedly opened investigations to learn how the contents of the video leaked from the private ceremony.

In separate reports, Israeli Defense Minister Barak was quoted by an Israeli newspaper saying that the Israeli army “may be called to enter” Lebanon to fight Hezbollah, the PNN reported on Wednesday
“Even though it’s quiet and deterrence exists—Hezbollah remembers the heavy beating they suffered from us in 2006…but it is not forever and you may be called to enter again.” Barak told new Israeli Chief of Staff Benny Gantz.
