Gaza; into the other direction
Imagine yourself in a half kilo meter cage long…you can see the outside…rubble everywhere, nothing standing… all debris piled on the face of the earth around you.. but you can see birds , freely flying, and playing…they are free and you are in this long cage… lizards pass through your territory … cross in front of you in this long passage…inside the cage… you are not alone , There are just a few empty wheel chairs ahead of you… another family is passing too … in the other direction…the parents are very happy… their smile is obvious , but their child is crying , the baby is sick… they pass you…you are crossing Erez into Gaza..
Next thing you are in a taxi… it is a bit different and a bit weird.. the taxi driver did not stop singing.. Is he happy??... What is he happy about? .. Inside Gaza …meeting some few children there.. Fourteen years old…they look happy .. At work, a reunion with a woman… a colleague, from work,, it has been a long time.. … the woman is a bit confused and confusing .. What do you do after work my friend?..."I dance at home… this keeps me in sane" … The young boys are the last to bid you farewell from inside … Any messages to carry for you to the outside?.. "Yes, tell the world.... We love life… but we feel forgotten here"
On the way back… through that tunnel cage to a closed room with cameras.. they let you search your own bag.. they are satisfied .. you can go to the next stop… from a wide room to a smaller closed booth , it is for body check.. the sound from the speakers tells you what to do… what if you had a child with you.. Where can you put the baby? What if you are a child crossing through? How does it feel to be alone in this booth… then you ask yourself: "How can people do this to one another…"
It is really an experience, an unforgettable one, but difficult to understand too…
