Stand Up For FINKLESTEIN

URGENT: FINKLESTEIN ATTACKED IN USC CAMPUS PAPER

For immediate release, please forward widely. (Apologies for Cross Posting)

A news article has been published today in the Daily Trojan, the USC official newspaper, presenting Norman Finkelstein as a man "said to be a Holocaust-denier" and giving comparisons to a man who "said slavery never happened in the United States." In addition, it is suggested that he approves of killing the President of SC Students for Israel merely because she is Israeli. No other views on his ideas or his beliefs are presented.

This article is absolutely outrageous and borderline libelous, and is clearly meant to delegitimize his presence on the USC campus today to speak about Israeli atrocities in the Gaza War of 2008-9. Finklestein's entire family lived through the Nazi Extermination camps, and he has never in his life denied the Holocaust, and to suggest that he has denied the Holocaust is outrageous and disgusting. In addition, the fact that USC money is going to publish such lies as possibility is unbelievable.

The article can be found here: http://dailytrojan.com/2010/03/10/usg-funded-speaker-event-draws-criticism/#comment-6389WE URGE YOU TO PLEASE WRITE A LETTER TO THE DAILY TROJAN ASAP CONDEMNING THE ARTICLE:

Points to bring up:

1. Finklestein's entire family went through the Nazi camps, and to give credence to vicious rumors that he is "said to be a Holocaust-denier" is appalling and disgusting.
2. The Daily Trojan's publishing of a quote that suggests that Finklestein would be "OK" with killing any Israeli is not based in any fact and is libelous.
3. The article is extremely biased against Students for Justice in Palestine, in effect saying that they support people who are said to be Holocaust deniers and not giving them any opportunity to respond against these allegations.
