PFLP: US position on settlements and negotiations is a cover for the crimes of the occupation

PFLP - Fronte Popolare per la Liberazione della Palestina

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine condemned negotiations of any shape or form with the occupier, saying that what is needed for the Palestinian people is action, not words with the occupier. On March 13, 2010, the PFLP issued a press statement saying that US positions on settlement construction, labeling it as a "negative step" or "non-constructive" no longer work to convince anyone of the U.S. administration's willingness to uphold international law and human rights, saying that so-called "negotiations" do nothing to relieve international bodies of their responsibility to uphold fundamental Palestinian rights and that the US is a fundamental strategic partner of the Zionist regime. The PFLP cautioned all Palestinian forces against being lulled by any such statements, noting that these statements are accompanied by no action to stop settlement expansion, attacks on Jerusalem and assaults on our people. It demanded that all forces claiming to represent the Palestinian people reject negotiations in any shape or form with the occupier and act instead to mobilize national efforts to unify and protect our rights and national constants, including self-determination, return, sovereignty, independence and Jerusalem.

The Front reiterated its utter refusal to bow to the dictates of the U.S. administration or accept it as a reference, saying that its false promises and deceptive initiatives are completely rejected. It demanded that the Palestinian Authority presidency immediately rescind its willingness to participate in so-called "indirect negotiations" in blatant violation of the decision of the PLO Central Council and the will of the Palestinian people.

Comrade Khalida Jarrar, member of the Political Bureau of the PFLP, said that the Palestinian leadership must be held accountable for any return to so-called "indirect" or "direct" negotiations, saying that any such return is a violation of the Palestinian Central Council decisions and the will of the Palestinian people. The Front affirmed that it would introduce a measure for such accountability in the next meeting of the Central Council.

The Front's statement said that our people's sacrifices and our revolution will not be sacrificed on the altar of the so-called "peace process" and "negotiations" which have been bankrupt since their inception and are nothing more than a cover for the schemes of the occupation, demanding instead that all act in the interests of our people and reject these policies of dependency and subjugation.
