Action Alert: No racist laws in Quebec Against Muslim Women

As a lawyer who is familiar with law on discrimination any attempt to
restrict the rights of any group to wear its religious attire is
contrary to the Quebec Human rights code and the Canadian Charter of
Rights and Freedoms. Banning Muslim women the right and the freedom to
wear whatever they freely choose is no different than banning
traditional Roman Catholic nuns habits. Please do not pass a racist and
discriminatory law and embarrass yourself and the people of Quebec
before the whole world.  Everyone has the freedom to wear what they want
and this includes religious attire for Jews, Christians, Muslims and for
any other religion.

Contact Quebec Premier Jean Charest, along with Minister of Immigration
and Cultural Communities Yolande James, Minister of Justice Kathleen
Weil, and Minister of Culture, Communications and the Status of Women
Christine St-Pierre to voice your concern regarding the newly tabled
‘reasonable accommodation’ legislation as both discriminatory in its
overarching applications and potentially damaging to larger segments of
society in its vague definitions.
