Remember, Iran is an Islamic Republic and the government operates under a theocratic republic. Under a theocracy, there is a supreme ruler that is recognized as an almost superior, god-like, deity of a ruler, an individual with extra special, preordained, spiritual wisdom and knowledge. A leader that is, well a ‘Supreme leader’; All others pale in comparison!
So in the below AFP article, it is the Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (aka Ali Khamenei) that is quoted. Important to note I think for all Americans because this ‘Supreme leader’ is judging us for what our government does.
AFP article:
“Americans, Zionists and other oppressive powers tried to isolate Iran for the past 30 years, but they failed and with God’s help they will also fail in the future”
“Americans are at the head of the list of enemies and the British are the most awful of them”
“We ask them to stop lying and as we have said in the past the Iranian nation is pursuing nuclear technology and if we do not achieve it today, then tomorrow when the world economy is driven by nuclear power we will be late,”
“The Iranian nation wants to achieve it so that it does not have to beg to Westerners 20 or 30 years later. But the Westerners through the false campaign are preventing us from getting it.”
“We have to be careful as the enemy will launch propaganda to say that there is division.”
The last remark was aimed at what the mainstream media in the United States has been promoting since Ahmedinejad was reelected. For more on that, check out our own Clay Farrell’s October Nationalist Matters, entitled “Listening to Reason: Iran Speaks”. See the part of the Lary King Live interview where Ahmedinejad is being asked about this years election.
The mainstream media even today is reporting about more civil disobedience in Iran and my recommendation is to consider those reports highly suspect at best. At worst, you can treat these reports as highly biased, propaganda designed to further alienate Western civilization against Iran. After all, stirring up domestic hostilities is a specialty of the CIA and it does not take much imagination to understand how.
In my opinion, the sentiment expressed in this article from the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, is unusual. Sure, I doubt there has ever been an Ayatollah of Iran that had anything good to say about the United States. Emotional comments about “Americans, Zionists and other oppressive powers” delivered from anybody in the Middle East, is the norm. I actually expect it. We have earned it. But when they come from a ‘Supreme leader’, a man of special, preordained, spiritual wisdom and knowledge, a man that rarely even speaks publicly or outside of special occasions, is unusual.
Not sure what any of this means yet but we are keeping a close eye on it.
