Living in a Prison

i lived 8 days in the largest prison in the world

under a blue sky and dark nights in the month of august

i lived in Jerusalem,Hebron and Bethlehem

i was a visitor at a prison camp

they call this prison; the holy land

they call this a democracy, kosher-style

for thousands of years they called this  place Palestine

now its a jail for the people who've lived here for centuries

By their holy book the torah, the guards are called the chosen ones  for it tells them  this is all theirs and theirs alone

And because 70 years ago their ancestors were horrifically treated so now they do the same to their brothers and call it justified

and they believe they have  Divine permission to urinate in water tanks, beat up children and commit war crimes

For this has been going on since 1948 and a  hypocritical superpower lets them do this

Segregated by walls, barb wire and hate

apartheid by any other name is still racism

racism in the holy land is unholy

why do we let this nightmare continue?

For can anyone anywhere tell me by what crime has the Palestinian committed?

By what right or law were their land, lives and livelihoods stolen and imprisoned?

And since they have committed no wrong no crime against anyone

Why do we not break down their prison walls and free them?
