Agha: Starvation of 1.5 million Palestinians puts the world before historic test

Palestinian agriculture minister Dr. Mohammed Al-Agha has said that his ministry had done whatever it could to ensure a dignified life for the Palestinians in Gaza Strip in the light of the three-year oppressive siege.

Agha, in a press release on Sunday on the occasion of the world food day, said that his government subsidized agricultural sector and investment in food industry, noting that the losses in the agriculture sector in the Strip as a result of the war surpassed all speculations.

He said that the Israeli burning of crops, damaging of cultivated fields and confiscating land had affected the farmer's income, charging that the Israeli practices aim at starving the Palestinian children, women and elderly people. He affirmed, however, that the Palestinians would never bow to the occupiers.

The minister asked member countries of the Food and Agriculture Organization to take into consideration the Palestinian people's suffering over 60 years, adding that the siege on Gaza and starving 1.5 million people was putting those countries before a historic test to break the siege and provide food, medicine and baby milk for those people.
