Hebron: Danish woman beaten by soldier

Israeli authorities declared Safa village north of Hebron a closed military zone and arrested two international peace activists, injuring a third Danish activist during protests Saturday. Dozens of villagers and activists were attempting to reach Wad Abu A-Rish, an area near Safa that is the site of an attempted land takeover by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. Soldiers barred the group from accessing the area, arrested a Danish and German activist and injured a second Danish woman by hitting her in the head with a rifle butt.

The group was trying to enter valley and work the lands set on three weeks ago by right-wing settlers from Bay Ayin, said Media Spokesman Mohammad A’wad for the group that organized the protest, Palestinian Solidarity Project.
