Palestinian fishermen on Monday barely escaped death when Israeli navy gunboats fired heavy machineguns at their boats off the coast of Rafah,
to the south of the Gaza Strip.
Security sources told PIC reporter that the intensified shooting damaged the fishing boats and the fishermen hurriedly escaped the area.
They pointed out that the fishermen were at sea during the incident and miraculously survived the barrage.
The Israeli occupation forces frequently harass the Palestinian fishermen off the coasts of the Gaza Strip and kidnap and fire at them to deny them fishing
more than three nautical miles from the beach.
