B'nai Brith on notice for supporting Israeli war crimes

Once again, B'nai Brith engages in a smear tactic and witch hunt to deflect attention from the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza and to silence criticism of the political ideology of Zionism and the racist, apartheid practices of the state of Israel.

The Canadian Arab Federation (CAF) does not and has never promoted terrorism or violence in Canada or abroad and welcomes any objective analysis of our policies and activities. If needed CAF will take any necessary legal action against defamation.

CAF does not view B'nai Brith as an objective party because its reputation is notorious for supporting Israel 's racist policies towards the Palestinian people, including Israel 's most recent criminal assault against Gaza that has resulted in the murder of 417 children, 108 women and 120 elderly Palestinians.

By claiming to be a human rights organization B'nai Brith should therefore express outrage against the inhumane actions carried out by the Israeli government in its assault on Gaza rather than indirectly supporting them by justifying their actions against the Palestinian civilian population. B'nai Brith should clearly state its position on the Gaza assault without smearing the condemnation efforts by Canadian organizations such as CAF.

CAF also views B'nai Brith's attack on the Arab Canadian MP, Maria Mourani, as bigoted. However, it is unfortunate to note that this is expected from them due to several other attacks that have been made by B'nai Brith against Arabs and Muslim Canadians and anyone who is critical of the State of Israel, including politicians. This is well documented in the July 27, 2007 issue of the Gazette ( Montreal ) which featured a commentary on B'nai Brith's vicious attack on Liberal candidate Jocelyn Coulon when she called for talks with Hamas. The commentary states, "it's also troubling to see B'nai Brith act in a way that can undermine high-profile people's reputations by making an unfounded case against those it says are anti-Israel." CAF stands with MP Maria Mourani against those who attempt to discredit or distort her courageous stand for human rights and sympathy for the Palestinian people.

Frank Dimant, Executive Vice-President of B'nai Brith Canada , is quoted in the July-August 2008 issue of Canadian Jewish Outlook as having said, "We and Israel are not alone because of you and the tremendous leadership of Dr. McVety and Dr. Hagee." This is the same Reverend John Hagee who has made remarks attacking the Catholic Church and Muslims, described Hurricane Katrina as God's retribution for homosexual "sin", and stated that God had sent Adolph Hitler to help the Jews reach the Promised Land.

CAF shares the viewpoint of the Alliance of Concerned Jewish Canadians who stated in their press release dated January 31, 2007 that "B'nai Brith is not a human rights organization; it is a narrowly partisan pro-Israel lobby group which defends activities the most bona fide human rights organizations condemn."
