The United States CONGRESS VOTES TO BACK THE SLAUGHTER IN GAZA

Yesterday, the Congress voted 390-5 to support the slaughter in Gaza. Addressing this shameful display of ignorance (or support for war crimes), Congressman Dennis Kucinich replied "I'm hopeful that we do not support the inhumanity that has been repeatedly expressed by the Israeli army. We must take a new direction in the Middle East, and that new direction must be mindful of the inhumane conditions in Gaza."

Last night Bill Moyers said "Although one recent poll found Democratic voters overwhelmingly oppose the Israeli offensive by a 24-point margin, Democratic Party leaders in Congress nonetheless march in lockstep to the hardliners in Israel and the White House. Rarely does our mainstream media depart from the monotonous monologue of the party line."

Yesterday, in a statement, the London-based Amnesty International said it wants the UN Security Council to establish full accountability for crimes committed in the Gaza conflict and for deployment of human rights monitors.
