Army Radio (Galatz) building in Jaffa, Tel-Aviv, Israel |
Palestinians, who according to Israeli officials took control of the airwaves from the Gaza Strip, broadcasted statements in Arabic, Press TV's Beirut bureau reported.
Jaffa-based Israel Army Radio, commonly known as Galatz among Israelis, is operated nationwide by Israel Defense Force and is mainly funded by the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
Palestinian resistance groups had earlier disrupted transmission signals of two other Israeli radio stations - South Radio and Radio Darom - and managed to air programs targeting audience in south Israel.
Meanwhile, Israeli jets fired missiles at Gaza's only power plant on Wednesday morning in an apparent move to further tighten the screw on Gazans.
The power plant had stopped generating electricity prior to the attack as fuel supplies had run out and Israel did not allow in more fuel to power emergency generators.
Amid a humanitarian crisis cause by the Israeli imposed blockade and aerial attacks, Gaza residents are now forced to drink unsafe water fetched from simple wells or unsanitary storage tanks, which could put Gazan's health at the serious risk of cholera.
The Israeli offensive has killed at least 400 people, with numbers growing.
Despite international calls for a 48-hour ceasefire, Israel has vowed to continue pounding Palestinians until its objectives, which include toppling Hamas, are met.
