With the announcement by Gordon Brown that all British troops are to be withdrawn from Iraq by July 2009, we can expect the media to be full of what a great job our boys have done in Iraq. That the whole disgraceful enterprise began with the UK's Prime Minister Tony Blair sending young men and women to war, to kill and be killed, on a wicked lie is something which will hardly be mentioned in the forthcoming media jamboree. Nor that the British armies presence in Iraq was bitterly resented by the overwhelming majority of the Iraqi people.
The video below was sent to me by Irish Republican group éirígí, the making of it was provoked after the popular TV program the X Factor showed a clip of its main contestants singing the song Heros, whilst their singing was inter-cut with rose tinted video clips of the British army of occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan. As you will see from the éirígí remix, the British armies time in Iraq was hardly its finest hour.
Due to pressure brought to bear by the British government the video has been censored by various video hosting sites in quick succession since being first uploaded on December 13. The video is also now available for viewing at http://www.eirigi.org
In the interest of internet freedoms, I would encourage those who can, to download the video and upload it to as many sites as possible under as many accounts as possible in order to stifle attempts at suppressing it.
