Israel threatening world security

Iran's ambassador to the
IAEA has said that Israel's
nuclear capabilities are a
potential threat to both
international and
regional security.

Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh told
Press TV that over 100 countries in the general
conference of the International Atomic Energy
Agency have condemned Israel for not
cooperating with the IAEA.

The Zionist regime has refused to sign the
Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and it is
believed that the regime has about 200
nuclear warheads capable of being mounted
on long-range missiles and a stockpile of
chemical and biological weapons.

"Although the US has always vetoes the UN
Security Council's resolutions against Israel,
it could not do so in the IAEA's general
conference," he added.

Commenting on Iran's cooperation with IAEA,
Soltaniyeh noted that Iran has always been
open to IAEA inspections.

Asked whether Iran has benefited from remaining
within the NPT framework, he responded that Iran
has been deprived from benefiting from the NPT
because of the unfair treatment of the West.

He also noted that Iran has not withdrawn
from the NPT and this makes clear the country
is not pursuing nuclear capabilities for anything
other than civil purposes.
