Mashaal will head a delegation
to Cairo for talks with Egypt's
powerful chief of intelligence,
a Hamas spokesman said on
Wednesday. The Damascus-based
Mashaal is expected in the
Egyptian capital late
Wednesday for talks with intelligence supremo Omar
Suleiman on Thursday, the spokesman said.
Leading Hamas official Mahmud Zahar on Wednesday
crossed the border from the Gaza Strip into the
Egyptian town of Rafah to join the talks on how
to resume control of the Gaza border blown up
over a week ago. Palestinian president Mahmud
Abbas was also in Cairo for talks with President
Hosni Mubarak to discuss the crisis in the Gaza
Strip which has been under a punishing Israeli
occupation blockade since June
