The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) has continued to violate international law in its treatment of civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), especially in the Gaza Strip. Sick are in the frontline as supplies and hope drain away for isolated Gazans
It was mid-morning and the doctors and nurses in the paediatric intensive care unit at the Nasser hospital were preparing a small celebration. One of their patients, a tiny five-month-old infant attached to a ventilator, had survived in the unit for 100 days. It was a brief moment of relief in the increasingly precarious world of Gaza.

Fire and Water in Gaza

On Sept. 19, the Israeli government declared the Gaza Strip "hostile territory" and authorized steps to punish its civilian population. It decided that every Qassam rocket fired into Israel would carry a price tag: cutting the supply of electricity and fuel that Israel sells to Gaza. This assumes that disrupting civilian life in Gaza will have positive political results for Israel. Gaza's 1.5 million residents have been living with collective punishment for some time. We have endured years of border closures, aerial attacks and military operations -- measures Israel has always explained as militarily necessary. But now, Israeli politicians claim it is legitimate to deprive all of Gaza's civilians of basic needs.

The HRWs had been called to the area after at least 7 soldiers were seen marching through town to the scene in question, briefly erecting a flying checkpoint. Soldiers then proceeded to surround the hilltop house overlooking the town, blocking entrance to the driveway, firing sound bombs, flares and live bullets sporadically. As one HRW tried to talk to the soldiers, he received a punch to his face. A soldier then struck him in his side with the barrel of his machine gun, and aimed the gun at his head forcing him to sit on the ground.

The Judaization of East Jerusalem
With the Golden Dome and the ancient walls of the Old City as backdrop, the cascade of Palestinian homes in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan is undergoing a dramatic transition. An Arab on primetime
Even if 'Arab Labor' looks like a great show, only a miracle will turn it into a hit. Why? Because Israelis are not used to seeing Arabs on primetime. As every talkbacker knows, Arabs are divided into five types: A. Terrorists; B. Primitive; C. Construction workers; D. The guy who makes great hummus; E. The stereotypical character every comedian imitates; F. Miryam Tucan. If that is the case – how are we expected to feel about Amjad? Because Amjad, as portrayed by Norman Issa, doesn't belong to any of the abovementioned groups: He is young, educated, angry, talented, frustrated, neurotic, yearning for the fragments comprising his identity to assimilate, dying for some love and freedom from the stereotypes. Amjad is the protagonist in Sayed Kashua's new show, "Arab Labor," which premiered Saturday on Channel 2. He plays a journalist who is trying – unsuccessfully – to assimilate into Israeli-Jewish society.
