Two children injured in landmine explosion in central Gaza strip
Two children were injured, Tuesday night, when a landmine exploded near their home in the central Gaza strip, Palestinian sources reported. The landmine was left near a Palestinian police station during Hamas-Fatah infighting in the Gaza strip.

US downplays Mideast talks hopes
The White House on Tuesday warned against high expectations for the Middle East talks proposed by US President George W. Bush one day earlier, saying they would not be "a big peace conference." In fact, spokesman Tony Snow said, it will not be a "conference" at all, correcting his own earlier description of Bush's invitation to Israel, the Palestinians and some of their Arab neighbors to revive the peace process. "This is a meeting," the spokesman insisted. "I think a lot of people are inclined to try to treat this as a big peace conference. It's not."

Israel: Arrests Resume in West Bank
Israel Occupation Forces (IOF) resumed arresting wanted militants in the West Bank on July 18 after a five-day break, Haaretz reported. The arrests, which occurred in Bethlehem, Hebron, Ramallah and Nablus, did not target the 178 individuals Israel has agreed to offer amnesty in exchange for ending support of "terrorist activities." The IDF had previously scaled back operations in the West Bank to review the effectiveness of Palestinian security forces.
