President Mahmoud Abbas said that "We will call the Quartet Committee and the UN Security Council for creating a mechanism or a method" to reactivate the UN resolutions, especially 1515, to revive the peace process."
UNSC resolution 1515 calls on the parties to fulfil their obligations under the Road Map in cooperation with the Quartet and to achieve the vision of two States living side by side in peace and security.
"We agreed with the Arab League on presenting new ideas to reactivate the Road Map," he said in a joint press conference Thursday in Ramallah with the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy.
President Abbas said that he talked with Mr. Douste-Blazy on the Palestinian internal agreement on forming the government of national unity.
"This agreement includes the respect of all of the agreements signed by the PLO and the respect of the whole international legitimacy," he said.
He asserted that several issues should be ended before announcing the new Government, such as the issue of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, including Ministers and Lawmakers, the captured Israeli soldier and the Israeli violations in the Palestinian territory.
President said that that forming of the new government would be a positive step forward.
He also expected that talking and working on forming such government would end the economic and financial siege.
President revealed that he received several encourage replies from the Quartet on the new government.
Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy reiterated the "full support" to efforts of President Abbas for forming the new government.
He said that if the government formed, it would create a big and important development.
Douste-Blazy asserted that the regional stability could be achieved through the peaceful solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
