The Palestinian Committee for Culture and Information (PCCI) said Saturday that Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have continued violating freedom of press in the Palestinian territory.
The Committee called on all international institutions and the International Federation of Journalists, governmental and HR institutions for adopting practical acts to stop the Israeli practices against journalists.
In its monthly report on Israeli violations against the journalists, PCCI said that during August, IOF continued assaulting journalists and media institutions, where it raided the Information Center for Palestine Studies, "Mass Press," in Tulkarem city.
It also denounced the injury of a press photographer, who works for the "Reuters", Fadel Shana'a and Sabah Hmeeda of "Media Group" by an Israeli warplane which bombed a car belonging to the "Reuters" Agency during their coverage of IOF storming east of Shajaiyeh neighbourhood of Gaza City.
It added that the journalist Rami Abdo, working with the American news agency Associated Press, "AP" was wounded with a metal-coated rubber bullet in the back, in addition to the arresting of a journalist, writer and lecturer at the Department of Journalism at Al-Najah University, Dr. Farid Abu Dheer.
The Committee mentioned that IOF banned the access of the Palestinian daily newspapers from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip.
