Israeli Warplane Destroys House in Gaza, Wounds Citizens
GAZA,(WAFA)-An Israeli warplane destroyed Monday at pre-dawn a house in the Gaza city, witnesses said.
They told WAFA that an Israeli helicopter fired three missiles at the house of Mohammed Sheikh Deeb adjacent to Abraj al-Fairouz in Beach Refugee Camp, where number of citizens including children were wounded.
ANC Condemns Israeli Attacks on Palestine, Lebanon
EKURHULENI (SOUTH AFRICA), July 24, 2006 (WAFA)- The African National Congress (ANC) condemned the Israel's collective punishment of both the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
In a press release, the ANC National Central Committee (NEC) said Sunday that the disproportionate response of Israel and the use of military force against civilian targets, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries.
"The massive destruction of vital life-supporting infrastructure, and the displacement of over half a million people can never be justified," NEC said.
It added that the threat of a regional war is becoming a reality, which will seriously endanger regional and international peace and security.
The NEC expressed grave concern about the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Lebanon, for which Israel's aggression is responsible, and reiterated that the Israeli actions are against international law and the Geneva Convention.
The NEC called for an immediate ceasefire by all sides as well as for a negotiated solution of the Israeli and Palestinian prisoner issue.
It called the UN Security Council to discharge its responsibilities and act with urgency to enforce an immediate ceasefire.
The NEC reiterated the unwavering support of the ANC for the cause of the Palestinian people.
MOH: Palestinian Territories Clear Area from Avian Flu Infection
GAZA, (WAFA)-Ministry of Health (MOH) has declared that the Palestinian territories are a clear area from Avian Flu infection.
In a statement, MOH revealed that the High National Emergency Committee for Combating Avian Flu Committee of the MOH stated that Palestinian territories are clear from (H5N1) infection, according to the international measurements, which conditioned passing of 90 days period after diagnosing the last infected case (the last diagnose of infected case was on 19 April 2006 and the first diagnose of infected case was on 21 March 2006).
The High National Emergency Committee for Combating Avian Flu dedicated its deep thanks and gratitude for his Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, for his ultimate support for the High National Emergency Committee for Combating Avian Flu and facilitating their great national mission.
The Committee also dedicated special thanks for the international agencies for their stand and co-ordination with Palestinian people, and association for combating the Avian Flu infection.
MOH: IOF Kills 39 Paramedics in its "Summer Rains"
GAZA -(WAFA)- Ministry of Health said Monday that Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) killed 39 first aid workers, doctors, ambulance drivers and nurses since its military operation "Summer Rains" on June 28, 2006.
In a statement, MOH revealed that the IOF denied access to 23 ambulances belong to MOH and PRCS as well as kidnapping bodies of victims from the ambulances in different Governorates in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
"A nurse works in Rafidia Hospital called Ahmed Enaab 40, has been killed and 4 other health workers have been injured due to the IOF strike on Nablus while they were on a head of their professional mission," MOH added.
MOH called on the international community to hold its responsibilities towards the continuous Israeli escalation through killing the unarmed innocent Palestinian civilians and families, attacking the medical teams, obstructing the ambulances and the frequent Israeli outrages against health facilities which provide human and health services.
It appealed to the international community to oblige Israel to respect the International Conventions and treaties also, to stop the violations against health and civil facilities.
Israel Kills Child, his Grandmother in Gaza
GAZA,(WAFA)- An old woman and her grandson were killed Monday by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) while they were riding a donkey cart north of Gaza, medical sources and witnesses said.
Medical sources said that Khairiya al-Attar 62, and her 13-year-old, Ibrahim al-Attar, were instantly killed, and others wounded, during the Israeli bombardment of Beit Lahia Town, north of Gaza.
Witnesses told WAFA that the old woman and the child were leaving their filed when and Israeli shell hit their donkey cart.
Earlier, on Monday, at least three citizens were killed and 15 others wounded as Israeli tanks bombarded residential area in the northern Gaza Strip, according to medical and security sources.
