Peacekeepers Pleaded With Israeli Military To Stop Air Strikes: Report
As the world powers deal with the situation in the Middle East and opinion differs over the Israeli mission in Lebanon, a new revelation threatens to add more fuel to the fire.
One day after four United Nations peacekeepers were killed by an Israeli bomb attack on their outpost in the southern part of the country comes a preliminary UN report indicating officials had pleaded with the Israeli military to stop the air raids near their bunker.
he document claims UN officials called Israeli authorities ten times in a six hour period to warn them their explosives were coming too close to the outpost. It claims they were reassured each time that the bombing raids would stop. Not long after the final pleading call, precision detonations rained down on the area, killing the quartet - including one Canadian.
I am shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting by Israeli Defence Forces," UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said from Rome, where today he attends a meeting of diplomats, most of who United States and Canada are trying to get to play down what's happening and gather more support for Isreal.
United States along with their new partner the current Prime Minister of Canada Steven Harper go against anyone who speaks out against Isreal and against any effort to force Isreal to stop. Harper takes the lead of Bush who wants Isreal to finish the job that America pays for.
Israel faked their expressed regret for the bombing and promised a full investigation (as long as they do it), but denied it was targeting the UN.(as if) like the continued deporting of international observers observing the genocide and crimes against the people of Palestine does not happen. (yeah right) and Palestine is under occupation.
